Rent a boat, or drink a beer - or both! (◕‿-)

➽ In the 1870s, the businessman Paul Kurz decided to create, on the wide expanse of the moat at Augsburg Oblatterwall, a leisure activity with small boats for rent. On 1 May 1876, he opened his business with three boats in front of the city wall at the northern suburbs. His idea was successful. Especially in the summer months the audience has an opportunity to relax or change from daily life.
The Kahnfahrt (boat ride) is still family-owned and since its inception in non stop operation, apart from the time when the bombing of Augsburg in 1944 caused severe damage even at the municipal sewer system and the water supply in the moat had to be stopped.
First there were to hire wooden boats who was available as pedalo or rowing boats. Since the 1980s, the boats are made of plastic and there are also electric boats in use. (see also clickable PiPs) Source: Wikipedia
