Mrs Fox, guards the den

Mrs Fox, guards the den
At home we see one or two urban foxes and so it was with surprise that I spied this one high on the side of a hill keeping a lookout of the crows at this very obvious den. A few moments later she hopped out and was on her way back out of this large valley towards the nearby urban sprawl on the hunt for food no doubt. My lens and closeups of her revealed that she probably had pups in here. The nearby crows were also showing interest here as can be seen.

Thanks for another call Richard. Glad you like this spot of nature. I did wonder about presenting the fox much closer here but decided on the whole scene instead.

Great shot at 180mm(120) but think you would have lost a lot that this shot has with 450mm (300).

You are right Steve. The close-up crop of this does not have the same appeal at all. Thanks for the visit my friend. ~ Herb

Thanks Danni. Yes we have a fox (even foxes sometimes) in our garden. They just lie in the sun with wishful eyes of food coming their way. It was nice for me seeing this en-natural.

Thank you Ulrich. Although I live in a very congested Urban area here, it is all on the edge of some magnificent natural countryside where foxes have always thrived. Nowadays however they get most of their food from the night streets etc. Glad you liked it, ~ Herb

... nice shot; the circling crows and their shadows are Hitchcock-ominous ... are the apparent hillside paths worn there by sheep?
Herb Riddle club has replied to L. L. Wall club
Good to see you again Wally and great that you enjoyed this one. Although we have sheep in the general area too these tracks were mostly made by the residing three or four horses here I think. Perhaps too, they could be badger paths, as at first I though this was a badger sett too. There is a wicked bard-wired fence on the field borders so not very likely to be man tracks. ~ Herb

I can quite understand my friend as the fox grabs our attention here. Co-incidentally, I am certain I saw this very same fox wandering through our garden an hour or so back. Glad you liked it.

What a fabulous shot Herb and lovely to see th fox. We have seen the local urban foxes here in daylight on occasion but mostly not until night time so this was a really lucky sighting for you.
The crows actually seem to draw attention to her.

I love this.

Have a lovely weekend
