  • Repetition makes a master!

So, don't think a good photogarphy requires any such thing as "natural or born with talent" ;-) EDIT: Or at least not only... For some people things are still easier to figure out, and some may have to repeat a lot to get it. And then there are of course physical limitations that may do things almost impossible. One can not see what one shoots if being blind. Although, there are ways to cope ;-) Blackpool from doreymccall on Vimeo . Somewhat a Nokia phone advertisement but Ga…

  • Got a new gadget........

    four-wheeled-heavy-duty-rollator
Apparently my movements outside aren't as good as they used to be. My vertigo isn't very good and walking outside with just a walking stick to steady me isn't enough. So I tend not to go outside because I feel as if I'm going to fall. Well when I was in hospital I mentioned this to the physio who promptly brought me a rollator to try out.... I'd often seen these outside and wondered how good they were. I was staggered at how comfortable and safe I felt. Okay, I feel like an old woman with i…

  • I'm back home!!!!!

Hi folks, I'm back home at last!!!!! The doctors finally decided on a diagnosis - I have COPD with borderline diabetes, and low iron. They say my heart failure is still a possibility but were so pleased with how I progressed that that diagnosis is put on hold, providing I do as I'm told!!!! The only reason they allowed me home early was because Mandi is still here. She goes back to Turkey on Thursday however, and the Social care package might kick in - there again - it may not!!! Tomorrow the…

  • The lilacs are making my garden smell gorgeous

The dark purple lilac in the driveway
This time of year the lilac trees are having a great time, showing off with their wonderful blooms. The white lilac is very pungent and luckily I have many trees dotted here and there in the garden and driveway - the paler purple lilac isn't so common - well it's more up the other end of the driveway than down near the house. Meanwhile the dark purple is sprouting up everywhere. There are about 3 trees next to each other which takes over most of the bottom driveway.... This dark p…

  • My apple blossom

The buds will soon be in full bloom
Sorry - no blog for days and then two in one day - a bit like a bus eh? I thought I'd shown you my apple blossom, of which I'm extremely proud, but I found that I hadn't. This year it's beautiful, but there again it's obvious that I'd say that!!!! I'm so lucky to have this garden at this time of year. The complete overgrown part of it, just goes completely out of my mind, when I see such beauty with the apple blossom, cherry blossom and of course the lilacs etc, covering most of my eyeline f…

  • My white rose is blooming all over.....

    The other rose
I had a white rose bush in a flower pot on my kitchen window sill but it wasn't doing very much really. In fact these last two years, I've only had one flower show in the winter time. I got a bit fed up but did wonder if it was a bit too lanky. There was a lot of stalk but no leaves or flowers on them, so I thought - it's time to have a clip here and there....... So I got my secateurs out and snipped away willy nilly!!!! Eventually I had a decent looking bush, with loads of off-cuts. I didn't…

  • The Tribe of Many Paws ~ Update 8th May 2018

    Nerys , Celt & Saxon ~ May 2018
I have trying to get around to writing this for over a month ! The puppies grow in size and hyper energy ! They had their last set of injections on the 23rd March and then weighed at 16 weeks Celt ... 24.1lbs and Saxon ... 32.6 lbs Now ... I would guess they are ... Celt 36-38 lbs and Saxon 46-48 lbs !! I will know accurately on the 5th June when they next go to the Vet for neutering and they can be weighed. They are little devils ! They never stop . The…

  • Spring has arrived in Bideford.....

Even the cherry tree has blossom already
Well at long last the weather has warmed up somewhat. Shall we just say - it's warmed up enough not to need the halogen fire on and the radiator is only on for a couple of hours in the evening!!! No hot water bottle needed neither. So it will be great not to need extra clothes nor putting a blanket over my legs to keep them warm!!! We've had a lot of dank days lately - not cold, not really wet neither, just damp and dark!! Colin, my brother's friend, who leaves tomorrow, has been so busy out…

  • Yes.... Mandi is here.

The dark lilac is sprouting too
Oh it's so good to see her. It was a very emotional meeting to start with. She came in floods of tears - she's been keeping her pain and emotions in check for months now - but as soon as she saw me - she cried for nearly an hour. Poor girl. She's home now, she can relax and take things easy. Also she can talk about how she feels and know that I completely understand (having been through very similar operations), but at least I was in the UK and my family was around me, whereas she was in a forei…

  • Observations on ipernity groups

Every now and then I test sharing private images only on groups, and get some interesting results. What I mean is that I keep the image as "Visible by: Me only", but then I share it on some group. What happens is that ipernity asks if I really do wish to share the image on the chosen group, and let other group members to see and comment the image. The test part is to find out if people actually view my image within the group context at all. And then the test reveals if the group is actually…

  • 2018-03-09 "Independence Day"

[EN] Dear members and friends of ipernity! 1) Four months ago we initiated a discussion about how we would like to describe ipernity to outsiders. The corresponding newsflash ( www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4683682 ) is one of the most read ima news. In the meantime an updated version of "About ipernity" has been created from the draft of November 2017, taking into account your suggestions. 2) With the help of our new IT service provider, we have put this version online today. You can fin…

  • 2018-02-23 ima Birthday News

[EN] Dear members and friends of ipernity! 1) Exactly one year ago, on 23rd of February, 2017, the prefecture of Val-de-Marne issued the founding deed (as of 20.02.2017) to the ASSOCIATION DES MEMBRES D'IPERNITY. Since then, twelve busy months have passed, in which ipernity successfully has been rescued and the essential restructuring has been started. Without your support, that would not have been possible. We thank you for that. 2) Shortly after the takeover in September 2017, we had…

  • Just had the best birthday present ever.....

    Looking lovelier than ever
Mandi had to go back to the hospital for a check up and to have biopsies done on her lymph nodes. Well she went up on Wednesday and came back on Thursday. She had the results and she's CLEAR!!!!! The doctors had got all the cancer lumps out and the nodes which had attached to her intestines were non-malignant! They don't need to see her for another year. I am so happy and I can now breathe. She's so relieved and you can see it on her face. She doesn't look almost 47 does…

  • Mandi and Dogan have two new kitties now....

    Pasha
Well they had no choice really, because whatever was killing a lot of the cats, it was outside, so they brought the remaining two kittens indoors. At least Pippi (_Alfie's brother) was still okay and the kittens were his siblings, so he didn't mind them. So meet Pasha...... She is just gorgeous and although slightly nervous, is settling down indoors very well. Then there's Roxy.... Roxy is almost the double of his mum - same markings etc, just fluffier. He's completely fe…

  • 2017-12-31 Happy New Year 2018

[EN] Against all odds A year–end message from the ima–Team It was in December 2016 when the founder and CEO of Ipernity S.A., Christophe Ruelle, announced the closing of the platform ipernity.com by January 2017. (1) It’s now the end of 2017 and ipernity is still online. What happened? Of course, members were scared, disappointed and started looking for alternatives to Ipernity. But true alternatives were (and are) hard to find. Quite a bunch of users moved over to flickr – bu…

  • Got out and it wasn't raining!!!!!!!!!

The tide is out and the sun just seems to be on the other side
I had to go to the doctor's surgery Monday morning to have my dressings changed. Usually it's either Anne or Yvonne who drive me, but on Monday both were away and so I drove myself. Oh it was good being able to do what I wanted. Well I had the dressings changed and I must say - it's looking much better, not so angry. The pharmacy had delivered a crate full of bandages etc early in the morning to my home - hells teeth, how long do they think this leg is going to take to repair itself. I'm also t…

  • Ronaldo and the pony are finished at last.....

The finished Ronaldo, with his socks on too
Just a quickie to tell you that I've managed to finally finish both of the soft toys. For Ronaldo, I've given him his socks and even his earrings in both ears as he has in reality. I'm still not completely happy with his face - but I just don't know how to make it better. I just hope that Josh likes him.... As for the pony - I've added the mane and tail - so now she's finished too. I'm halfway making a mini pony - identical to this one, but I'm not sure I'll have time to fin…
