People Working Ahead ...

For this week's Sunday Challenge , for which the topic was manly pursuits .
A bit of a tricky one in some ways because I don't think that nowadays there are many activities which you could say are for men only. Even hobbies that might once have been seen as for being solely or at least predominantly for men, such as DIY, are now quite popular with women too.
The times are no longer as Bob Dylan once sang a-changing ... instead they have changed and changed significantly.
Take this temporary road sign I found discarded on the ground behind Northallerton's leisure centre. When I was growing up it was understood that this meant Men at Work . Yet nowadays although the sign looks exactly the same as it always has, and certainly still looks to me like it depicts a man digging, it is now described as indicating road works ahead.
I guess it won't be long before the only true manly pursuit left for us guys will be growing a beard!
Also for Sight and Sound . I nearly went for the Dylan track referenced, but in the end I couldn't resist the double pun connection offered by Men at Work with "No Sign of Yesterday":

A 'nearly ran' for last week's Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of photographer/s and another dip into the archives given that I'm still time precious.
This one was taken at the Scirocco Register's National Meet held at RAF Cosford way back in 2011. It features Heath on camera duty, whilst Ant considers just how many flies Colin's white MkII 'captured' on the long drive down from Aberdeen and Colin enviously studies Ant's coffee.
Processed using Perfect Effects 9.

A rather late entry (again) for last week's Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of photographers .
As I'm still very much time precious I had to dip into the archives for this one and had to play around with it in the processing room to get an effect I was anywhere near happy with.
I think interesting is the word you're most likely looking for!
A copy of the original image before it was cropped and processed is now to be found in the Notes for those that like to see these things.

Nothing like a bit of people watching at a car show!
This shot also helps demonstrate just how tightly packed they had some of the things at this event: not just the cars side by side, but the aisles too.

Spotted these two guys shooting and old Rolls-Royce at the show. Not sure if they were together or if the guy standing was just waiting his turn to get the 'killer' shot of the car head on.

Sunshine, hot cars, trophies and men downing cooled drinks .... sounds like the recipe for a pretty good car show ... and it was!

No matter how good the show is, I guess it's always nice to find a quiet corner away from the crowds!

These are fabulous little cars to look at, but sadly I've never experienced what it's like to drive one.

These two blokes were quite happy to pose beside this Morris Marina Super, which dates from 1972.
Note the modified pick-up version in the background. The purists might hate it, but it was heading for the scrap heap had the owner not been willing to invest in keeping it on the road.

Two blokes and an old car ... the conversation probably went on for hours!
