Gare de Nice-Ville (5M) - 10 Septembre 2013

To complement my earlier photographs from Ventimiglia, I visited Nice-Ville. France was in the grip of (another) national strike but SNCF had guaranteed a modified service. However, several units were standing idle at what, I imagine, would normally have been a much busier scene. On the right, is a Class Z 26500 unit and on the left are Class Z 23500 units. The graffiti on the latter were obvious and a closer inspection of units reveals tired interiors with dusty looking and worn seats. On some cars, there is evidence of damage to paintwork caused, it appears, by attempts to remove graffiti. I was pleased with the original shot and have also produced this b&w version.

Nice-Ville is in a pretty dramatic urban setting which provides a marked contrast with the train shed. I took two similar shots but could not decide between them and have posted both.

To complement my earlier photographs from Ventimiglia, I visited Nice-Ville. France was in the grip of (another) national strike but SNCF had guaranteed a modified service. These were the two units of a combined TGV service 2930/6176 for Paris Gare de Lyon scheduled for 1134. It eventually left at 1143.
