Altes Rathaus (PiP)
Das Alte Rathaus am Alten Markt in Potsdam erstrahlt wieder im alten Glanz. Es wurde von Friedrich dem Großen in Auftrag gegeben und von 1753 - 1755 nach italienischem Barockvorbild erbaut. Kurz vor Ende des 2. Weltkrieges wurden bei Bombenangriffen auch Teile der Altstadt zerstört bzw. beschädigt. Durch den Artilleriebeschuss der Roten Armee wurden das Alte Rathaus und die Nachbarhäuser fast völlig zerstört, siehe PiP. In den 1960er Jahren wurde der repräsentative Teil des Gebäudes wieder hergerichtet.
Oben auf der Kuppel steht der vergoldete Atlas. Links sehen wir den Marmorobelisken und rechts das Knobelsdorffhaus.
