We both did well with the weather hen Amelia! I like going away in September and October. Fewer people and usually the weather is good without being too hot.

A fine collection from Scarborough showing the castle overlooking the Old Town (Bottom End) and harbour in great light Rosa. I like the reflections on the wet sand and the gentle waves breaking on same. Your PiPs are fine shots in their own right, especially the one of the apartment building; wonderful perspective. By the way, thanks for bringing the fine weather;-))

A cracking little set of photos Rosa...........the main image is really lovely, with calm seas and beautiful sunshine. The houses and the little harbour look gorgeous. The old fortifications on the top of the cliffs look interesting.

Another super view in the first PiP...........with great framing and some nice hints of autumn colour in the leaves.

Your hotel in the second PiP looks wonderful.........I like the perspective and the detail, especially the ornate balconies.

It seems you had a great trip and I'm looking forward to seeing some more photos. Meanwhile, enjoy the weekend.

Thank you very much Keith. We couldn't have asked for better weather. It usually is nice on my birthday, but it continued for the entire stay. The hotel was great and the 3 nights of entertainment were superb.

There are enough photos to last from now until Christmas I reckon ;-)) I hope I don't bore you all too much!

Thank you very much Edna. Yes, it was a great holiday, nearly 300 miles (about 480km) away but it was worth it. Maybe next time we should fly ;-))

I'm happy to hear that, Rosa! And 480 km isn't that far in my opinion...just once across Germany from the French border to the Czech ;-) It usually takes 4 hours in good traffic conditions.

It's not far when you have other land around you Edna, but it is here :-)) It took much longer than four hours. Quicker on the way back home though and we did make two stops for the usual reason!

Yes, of course, Rosa. That's a whole different story. How would a boat trip work?? ;-)

Looks like you had good weather Rosa. I can't remember Scarborough ever looking as good as this :) I see the castle on top of the hill and in all my years I have never visited it. Look forward to the rest of your holiday snaps. In the meantime, well done for some great first shots.

My Dad was born in Scarborough (1920) and as a boy we spent all our holidays there staying with Grandparents and Aunties/Uncles so the town is quite dear to me. Dad married and moved to Rochdale where I was born and lived until 1979.

Dad moved back to Scarborough and lived in Prince of Wales Terrace, a little further down from your fantastic building photo.

I hope you enjoyed your holiday there Rosa.

Prince of Wales Terrace is beautiful David. Your father must have been happy there, especially with the great views. Thank you for your story. It's always interesting to know where people come from and move to.

I enjoyed my holiday there very much David. That coast has been on my list for a long time. As you might imagine, I took lots of photos, so quite a few to come of Scarborough and the other places visited whilst up there.

Thank you Gudrun. We were in the part where the bay windows are. The food and staff were excellent, and I was dreading the entertainment, but I need not have worried as it was very enjoyable.
