Thank you for sharing these lovely photos taken by your father! It was such a sad day yesterday and much to my surprise I shed a tear or two. Queen Elizabeth came to the throne in the year I was born. Having a King will take a bit of getting used to.

Much as I hate to admit it, I thought the tribute from Boring Johnson was one of the most moving!

They are a pleasure to share Keith. I had not heard Johnson's tribute, so on reading your comment, I looked for it and listened to it. I have just finished listening, and have to agree with you. It started me off again!! I doubt if you are the only man to shed a tear, as she was a constant in our lives and I feel like I have lost a member of my family. Well, Sophie is coming to stay for the weekend, so I hope that will lighten the mood :-)

How lovely that these photos taken by your dad came to light Rosa. A wonderful tribute to our much loved Queen. I think may of us have felt quite emotional since we heard the news but the tributes have been wonderful from people across the world and from all walks of life. She was already Queen when I was born and although she had become frail was still working to the end.
Very sad times.

As I was just a small child when she came to the throne, she has been a constant in our lives. Yes the tributes have been so wonderful and a testament to her popularity. Working until the end, she couldn't have taken her role any more seriously. She will be greatly missed, but I think Charles III has the same sense of duty. I kind of met him by mistake once....but that's a story for another day.

It is very nice of you to post this.
She was the queen when I was born, so I have never known anything different.
While some members of her family have strayed from 'the straight and narrow' (some much more than others!) she has always been totally dignified.
I do have a picture of my father meeting the queen, I must try and find it....

Hello Rosa and I must add my appreciation of these wonderful photos by your father. Like Keith (above) I too was born just in that same year of her crowning. Both my wife and I also shed a tear on hearing the news moments after the first formal announcement. Our trip to Balmoral a few years back now seems a shared experience with her family. She can never be replaced but I feel our new King will try his best.
