She was so happy to be at last at one of our favorite places after several weeks of total lockdown that she allowed me to take some photographs of her - something what normally doesn't happen ;)

Reminds me of an old TV show when I was a kid, called 'Lassie'. Great personality portrait Marta.

I think that remember seeing some episodes from a "Lassie" TV show (there were several of them, right?) but only vaguely.
But "Lassie Come-Home" by Eric Knight is a classic. Every school kid in Poland read it. I did, my daughter did. Now it vanished from the required readings list (replaced with Narnia and Hobbit, I think) but parents (and grandparents) keep the tradition of reading and/or giving the book to their kids alive.
How do I know? Just an example. It happened two weeks ago.
I went to a nearby grocery store and I took my dog with me (she loves being driven in a car!).
I parked the car and I told her to stay and keep quiet "I'll be right back!"
Just at the same time a big SUV parked in the adjacent lot and a young family emerged.
Then I heard the voice of a small girl (she could be six):
"Mamo, Mamo! patrz! to Lassie!"
"Mommy, Mommy! look! it's Lassie!"
It was a sunny day, but my smile was bigger than the sun :D

Great story there Martha, you and your dog made that kids day. I didn't know Lassie made it around the world, I thought is was just an American thing. I learn so much from ipernity than just photography.

The first edition of the book in Polish is dated on 1958.
So I can say that it was with me around the time when my Dad taught me how to read.
It still is (somewhere in my house, among hundreds of other books that I can't part with).

And, oh, just yesterday we had another encounter with a first-grader (accompanied by his Mom) who was walking their dog at Glinianki (our town park, still undergoing revitalization, ugh!).
It was a very nice boy who started with a polite greeting "dzień dobry" and when I responded to it he asked if my dog was a girl or a boy (an old lady, I said, but still a girl). The boy said: good, she looks very like Lassie :)
