Beach Huts

Beach Huts
A row of fairly new looking beach huts on the sea front at Southsea, Hampshire. These are quite an unusual design as the doors are set back a few feet to give a small sitting space outside on the concrete.

Annemarie, trester88, Berny, Jörg and 13 other people have particularly liked this photo

I think you're right Fred.............but there are a few people that use them all year round.........probably just to get a bit of piece and quiet :-))

Always good to see beach huts Keith. On Panoramio I had an album of 40+ of them. Well done.

Cheers. Herb

I think these would be a great addition to any beach. I wish we had them over here! The idea of a seat facing the sea is a great idea for friends or family that are not swimming.

These are owned by the local authority and there are not nearly enough of them available. To rent one is horrendously expensive and the waiting lists can run into years.

Glad you like the look of them Eunice.

It's a good idea to set the doors back Keith. I was able to shelter from the rain under one like that when I was last in Swanage ;-) A super shot and a subject that I love!

I think so too............I've seen people sitting under cover reading a book or paper, when they're not being "officially" used.

Glad you like the shot...........I'll probably go back in the summer for another looks at these.

Nice beach huts, but as you say the cost is beyond the pockets of many, I also like those street lamps Keith,
Nice capture and lovely colours.

Thanks Roger..........once they get rented by someone, they tend to stay in the family for years, but they brighten the place up. The whole of the Waterfront is lined with these lovely old lamps and they normally string them together with coloured lights for Xmas.

They are a fine sight…but not for this season, I suspect, Keith!
They are very rare here in Oz…where they would be useful protection from searing sun!

Glad you like them Diana.............many beaches in the UK have them. Mostly for the summer season, but there are a few people that use them all year round.........probably just to get a bit of piece and quiet away from the kids :-))

Die Saison ist vorbei. Andererseits sind solche Strandhütten auch ohne die bunten Türen ein schönes Motiv.
