so you are saying they are all fruit? have you ever put a tomato in a fruit salad? I like the focus being in the middle on the lemon

Yes to fruit, no to fruit salad :-) ... The confusion about 'fruit' and 'vegetable' arises because of the differences in usage between scientists and cooks. Scientifically speaking, a tomato is definitely a fruit.

I've never put a lemon in a fruit salad or an apple in pasta sauce but they are three mostly roundish items so it works for me. When Reagan was president, ketchup was considered a fruit to fulfill the requirement of having fruit in school lunches.

lol, so true, but I have used lemon zest in a fruit salad! so 3 round things works if we really need a 'name'... I can't say I have put an apple in pasta sauce either, but I have used cinnamon and apples 'go' with that sooooo maybe a trend?

I would use lemon juice on fruit salad, but don't often have that. I usually put an apple in pasta sauce and in curries :-)
