Spadina rhymes with Dinah rather than with Dina.

I'm glad they have a fire safety plan.

Speaking of plans, read the racoon story in the Star which apparently has gone viral, about Toronto's clever "Uber-Racoons" vs. the new, "racoon-proof" compost bins. I'm glad San Francisco isn't the only city sporting ever-smarter urban critters.

Raccoon-proof bins came in a few years ago, Sarah. I think only houses get them. My neighbourhood is full of high-rise apartments and the compost goes in metal bins, for the most part, I think. They should be easy for the raccoons to get into, but impossible to get out of. But I still saw a young one out in daylight on my way to the subway earlier this week. Toronto is also a rabies capital so I steered clear.

The news today is that the raccoons are even fatter now than when the raccoon-proof bins were brought in, and more numerous. Mybe they have switched to the abundant wildlife in Toronto. Apparently they keep the rat population down, so good on them.

Correction: Toronto was a rabies capital once but Ontario is now free of rabies.
