I lived in Boston when these Boeing trolley cars were first introduced there. They were a disaster from the beginning, not being durable enough to handle the demands of urban transit. BUT, the U.S. was in one of its "buy American" phases where we had to try to make things in the U.S. even if we didn't know how. See the story in the adjacent picture.
