Suddenly, behind a bend, we came across this little flock of sheep... Seen at the "Col d'Ibardin", just at the border between France and Spain.

A most remarkable site. Currently, more than 100 statues (2.5 - 7 m high) have been erected and you can watch the sculptors at work. The aim is to create a "Breton Easter Island of the 3rd millennium", a place honoring the collective memory of Brittany through the installation of large granite statues, to the effigy of 1000 Breton saints who founded a parish; around myths of foundation are added legends telling the exploits of these characters.

Look at these street photos in one of the most beautiful villages in Brittany... I took a picture by zooming on this hiker, he is really worth the photo with his wooden clogs! Then he stopped and discussed with a Breton lady in her typical costume. I could not help but ask if I could take a picture of them together, they agreed. We then saw a harp player on the steps of the well who uttered his beautiful tune, and - we saw, most incongruous in this old medieval village, a troop of militaries with their submachine gun!! I didn't dare to take a photo of the whole troop;-)

J'ai toujours hésité à photographier de telles scènes, car je pense qu'elles sont toujours un "exercice de funambule" : on peut facilement "esthétiser" la misère pour qu'elle devienne du folklore ! Mais cette fois c'est particulièrement expressif puisque la personne regarde son laptop d'un certain prix... A THOUGHT-PROVOKING IMAGE. I have always hesitated to photograph such scenes because I think that they are always a “tightrope exercise”: one can easily "aestheticize" misery so that it becomes folklore ! But this time it's particularly expressive because the person is looking at an expensive laptop... EIN BILD, DAS ZUM NACHDENKEN ANREGT. Ich scheue mich immer, solche Szenen abzulichten, denn ich finde, sie sind immer eine Gratwanderung : leicht wird hier das Elend "ästhetisiert" und wird zur Folklore ! Aber diesmal ist es besonders ausdrucksstark, da die Person einen teuren Labtop vor sich hat...

Ce chat a trouvé une "place précieuse" pour faire sa sieste ;-) il ne se souciait pas du tout des gens autour! (vu dans la boutique de Merlin) THE SLEEP OF THE JUST - this cat has found a "precious place" to take a nap;-), and it didn't care at all about the people around! (seen in Merlin's shop)

The oldest long-distance cycling road event (dating from 1891), a 1200 km bicycle race from Paris to Brest and back to Paris, called PARIS-BREST-PARIS is crossing the village during 4 days: the most recent edition of PBP is running from 18th to 22nd August 2019. The whole village is decorated to welcome and encourage the cyclists (see PiP's). La plus ancienne épreuve cycliste de longue distance sur route (datant de 1891), une course cycliste de 1200 km de Paris à Brest et retour à Paris, appelée PARIS-BREST-PARIS traverse le village pendant 4 jours : la dernière édition du PBP a lieu du 18 au 22 août 2019. L'ensemble du village est décoré pour accueillir et encourager les cyclistes (voir PiP's).

Un saunier (ou paludier) est un travailleur récoltant le sel dans les marais salants. Le mot de "saunier" désigne aussi historiquement les récoltants de sel travaillant dans des sauneries où ils obtenaient le sel en chauffant l'eau sur des feux de bois.
