Commencée à l’époque romane, la cathédrale de Bayeux est dans l’ensemble une église gothique. La plus grande partie de la construction est concentrée dans les années 1230-1270. C’est pourquoi elle présente une assez grande unité de style : un édifice gothique du XIIIe s. enveloppant la structure romane primitive.
