With the first warmer days in April, this small, pretty butterfly appears, namely the orange tip (Anthocharis cardamines). The photo shows a male sucking nectar from a garlic mustard flower. Males can be recognised by the orange-red spots on the upper side of the wings, which shimmer through in the photo shown, but are clearly visible in the photo www.ipernity.com/doc/cammino/50691874 when the wings are slightly open. Incidentally, garlic mustard is the most imprtant food plant of the orange tip caterpillars. The photo was taken in a sparse mixed oak forest, where the garlic mustard is currently in full bloom and many orange tips butterflies can be found.
