Sommerzeit im Garten - Summertime in the garden
Etliche Gärtnereien (siehe Internet) bieten Diptampflanzen an.

At the moment, just in time for the beginning of summer, the gas plant (Dictamnus albus) is flowering in Franconian nature reserves and in my garden. It is characterised by beautiful flowers and a pleasant lemon scent. This plant species has been protected since 1936; it was already a rarity in Central Europe at that time. Diptam is occasionally found in Lower Franconia only on calcareous soils of sparse areas in dry forests and on meadows with lots of bushes. It grows to about 1 m high. Several nurseries (see Internet) offer diptam plants. My specimen in the garden comes from a mail-order nursery. Diptam flowers are frequently visited by bees and bumblebees.
It owes its German trivial name "Brennender Busch" (burning bush) to this fragrant, volatile essential oil contained in its flowers and fruits. It can be ignited (in absolute calm) without hurting the plant.
It is important to know that contact with the plant and subsequent exposure to sunlight can cause the skin to react strongly.
