Nahrung für die Wespenbrut - Food for the wasp brood

This dead female bush cricket (possibly dead after laying eggs) is cut up by wasps and the wasp brood is fed with the muscle meat. The larvae of wasps are fed exclusively with the muscle meat of dead or captured animals. Only from the end of September, when the queen has died and no new larvae have to be fed with muscle protein, the breakfast sausage is again relatively safe from wasps. By the way, new queens emerge in autumn, which survive the winter after mating and found a new state in spring. The rest of the colony perishes.
