1976 VW Beetle 1300 - EF 9896

1976 VW Beetle 1300 - EF 9896
Came across this old Beetle a while back, but I didn't have the camera with me at the time. So I was pleased to discover it still parked up in the same spot in Northallerton when I was passing yesterday.

Official records seem to suggest that this is a 1200, but the badging identifies it as a 1300 so take your pick. Either way, it isn't in the best of condition it has to be said, but given that it's sitting outside an MOT station maybe, just maybe, there are plans afoot for this old lady to be given a new lease of life.

Someone just suggested Wendi that you were maybe getting a bit too old for girl squeals, which I thought was a bit harsh ... wasn't me, honest, nope, wasn't me, that's a fact! ;)

Just imagine the life she could be having with a little work. :)

I have owned 2 bugs. One was a Super Beetle and the other one wasn't. Both 1970s (powder blue and red.) I adored those cars and would get another one, but half the fun of them is driving a stick and I don't think my shoulder would go for that anymore. I used to love going to this car dealership in Seattle where they restored them. They had some gorgeous cars there.

Those old Bugs and that dealership sound pretty cool Karen. Makes me wonder what you make of the way they revisited the design over recent years?

As for that link you posted, don't think I've seen that film so I found that opening sequence most enjoyable. Never mind the Beetle though, what about Goldie Hawn (sigh)! ;)

I do like the new Bugs. I think they did good job on the design. I have never driven one though. My son actually learned on one in Driver's Ed. He said it was fun.

Oh, if you like Goldie Hawn that is a good movie. It's just good fun and she's adorable as ever. Chevy Chase is a great match for her too.
