1782 Horisme tersata (Fern)

1782 Horisme tersata (Fern)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 28-36mm.

A common species in central and southern parts of the UK, which can be found where the larval foodplant, Traveller's Joy, a wild Clematis occurs. Generally, it occurs near open woodland, or hedgerows where this plant is found. Not huge numbers recorded in Cornwall, and although throughout the county, there seems to be more found in the east of the county.

The flight season in Cornwall is wider than quoted for the UK, occurring from May to August, with occasional specimens being seen in September. The peak flying time is around June and July.
