. . . Historians have long debated how much trust can be placed in ancient Greek accounts of Alexander’s conquests. Still, with the help of Persian, Babylonian, Egyptian, and Jewish sources, a coherent story can be pieced together in broad outline. The archaeological records are also useful: a coin issued by one of Alexander’s immediate successors, for example, depicts him with the ram horns of Zeus Ammon, this asserting a family resemblance between Alexander and the divine father. ~ Page 103
