Calshot Spit Light Vessel - 5 June 2020
Built in 1914, the Calshot Spit Light Vessel (LV78) spent a lot of her life elsewhere before being moved to Calshot after WWII. She retired by 1989 and was moved to Ocean Village Marina, Southampton. Proposed development of Ocean Village put her at risk of being scrapped but she has found a new home at Solent Sky Museum and can be viewed from Albert Road South at the rear of the museum.

I was thinking about these babies (light and lighthouse) ships just the other day. They are things of beauty, as well as very clever and very useful. I want one! :-)
