Well a double whammy there Annalia, Such a basic and time proven method to bring supplies into the home, never in a hundred years would I have thought of that. Secondly a wonderful and appealing still life, so well spotted.

it was a wonderful idea to do it again!
I know this from my childhood, but with a basket, which my aunt, who was a bit corpulent, let down from the window, so that I could not run down the stairs and up again :-)

A rather interesting technique. When my mother lived in her own house she used a similar one to get a key to visitors who didn't know the combination of the small safe next to the door which contained a key...

Oh, I had never heard of small safes with keys before. Very ingenious and great for scatterbrains like me who forget their keys at home about every other day!!

Oh yes, excellent idea! One could see it also in the news in TV from the pictures in Italy.
First I thought it's a fire protection bucket, filled with water. :)

Thank you, George. Actually we are among the lucky ones. Our home faces the street and has two floors (and we use the upstairs rooms the most), but we also have a backyard, actually a decent sized one for being in a city. It has been my salvation in this confinement, providing room for exercise and photo ops and allowing me to enjoy the antics of a blackbird family who nested nearby.
Now we are allowed to go for individual walks and bike rides, so even those confined in apartments now can get some exercise and sunlight. They must have been at their wits' ends these past two months ... I really really hope the numbers will stay low and that we won't have to go back to full strength confinement by the end the month.
