the Covid19 bucket

the Covid19 bucket
My grandma lived on the third floor of an old building and used one of these to retrieve mail and other stuff without risking the treacherous stairs. We repurposed this time tried technique and have been using it to minimize close contact, in order to protect both ourselves and all the people out there who have continued to provide essential services, like postal workers and civil protection volunteers delivering our weekly allotment of masks, from the risk of contagion.
The light streaming in from the window and the colorfulness got me to go for my camera and I thought the result was interesting enough to share.

Well a double whammy there Annalia, Such a basic and time proven method to bring supplies into the home, never in a hundred years would I have thought of that. Secondly a wonderful and appealing still life, so well spotted.

Thank you, HappySnapper. I must give credit for the idea of using the bucket to my husband. I will claim the credit for taking a don't-know-how-to-pass-the-time-in-confinement still life, though! :D

Thank you, Farb.
Brain is at risk of going on idle during confinement, so any opportunity to pass the time creatively is important! ;)

Grazie mille, Annemarie. Mi ha fatto sorridere che hai pensato a Trastevere, perchè la nonna di cui dico all'inizio era, appunto, ... trasteverina! ;)
Buona settimana!

it was a wonderful idea to do it again!
I know this from my childhood, but with a basket, which my aunt, who was a bit corpulent, let down from the window, so that I could not run down the stairs and up again :-)

Thank you, Anna. For the idea of using this old "stairs-saver" method I must credit my husband. He's the one who came up with it!
Thank you for visiting and have a nice evening!

A rather interesting technique. When my mother lived in her own house she used a similar one to get a key to visitors who didn't know the combination of the small safe next to the door which contained a key...

Oh, I had never heard of small safes with keys before. Very ingenious and great for scatterbrains like me who forget their keys at home about every other day!!
Thanks for sharing this, Reginhart!

Oh yes, excellent idea! One could see it also in the news in TV from the pictures in Italy.
First I thought it's a fire protection bucket, filled with water. :)

Thank you, Polytropos. It was filled ... with light! That's what got me to go get my camera. It looked like the light from the window was poured into the bucket, lighting it up.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!

Grazie, Gabi. Un tempo era facile vederli in uso nei vecchi borghi dove le case avevano scale strette e faticose. La mia nonna viveva in una casa così e il suo di secchio era uno di quelli di metallo che un tempo si usavano per mungere :))

Buon resto di domenica!

Great colours in this still life, Annalia. I feel for you confined in a multi-storey building, let's hope there soon is some reprieve for you. HFF, stay safe and best wishes for the weekend.

Thank you, George. Actually we are among the lucky ones. Our home faces the street and has two floors (and we use the upstairs rooms the most), but we also have a backyard, actually a decent sized one for being in a city. It has been my salvation in this confinement, providing room for exercise and photo ops and allowing me to enjoy the antics of a blackbird family who nested nearby.
Now we are allowed to go for individual walks and bike rides, so even those confined in apartments now can get some exercise and sunlight. They must have been at their wits' ends these past two months ... I really really hope the numbers will stay low and that we won't have to go back to full strength confinement by the end the month.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you had a nice weekend.

Hi Annalia

A very nice still life picture, which I really like

Fantastic colours

Wonderful composition, which reminds of of fairy stories of people kept locked away in castle towers.... At least safe from the plague!

Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
