Nice lead in line down to the towpath. Would you consider buying one of these houses?
HFF and a good weekend, Nick.

No I would not dear LGM, there is a lock keepers cottage up for sale just to the left of shot up by the lock and attractive as that is I wouldn't consider buying that either. Too many insects for my liking but undeniably a great spot xxx

The houses look good and spacious but I'd be worried about flooding (and don't care for mosquitoes;-) HFF, Nick!

You are wise to be worried about flooding, I have seen the high level that these new houses are built on completely covered by water! and the bugs!

The story of our modern canals Nick -new houses appearing on or near the banks everywhere. As not having the pleasure of living in one of them, of course I resent them somewhat!!! (Isn't that human nature!)

HFF, have a great weekend, Herb

The canal side makes a nice setting for the houses and everyone thinks that it must be a dream fore filled to live in one, but not for me I'm afraid ~ Enjoy your weekend Herb and the northern canals

I used to walk here once or twice a week Sarah, but part of that walk has been spoiled for me now due to the building of the new HS2 railway line ~ Hugs

Nice view of the canal, but I would love the houses not so near the water. .

The houses have great views of the canal but if as you say the water levels can rise that much I would be worried about flood risk. A lovely shot though Nick. A belated HFF
6 years ago.
Nick Weall club has replied to Ecobird club
The trouble is that there is a river running through the canal too Carol and whilst it is not obvious there is a high level canal hidden behind the houses which is at the same level as the canal beyond the lock. When the river is in flood the water pours over the lock gates and also runs across the land that the houses are built on ~ it will never get deep there, but a pain all the same I imagine

Hi Nick

I really like the way you have shown the changes in the area, and a nice photo too. The houses must cost quite a bit!

Best Wishes, Belated HFF, and a Good Weekend

I've put the link in the description box too.

The lock keepers cottage just out of sight on the left by the lock has been on the market for over a year ~ price in excess of £1m

I'm so pleased that you found my promised return Rosa, I suspect that the new builds would be a little cheaper but still on the high side. Property is not cheap around here ~ All the best ~ Nick

I agree about your comment to Amelia about the insects, Nick. I wouldn't live by the water either! Fine shot though!
I have just realised that we don't get many flies in Madrid - too high and dry for them. One of the advantages!

Hi Andy, well when I'm in Gosport I'm right by the water but thirteen floors up so free from insects, but an attraction for Gulls :~)
