Trona Pinnacles
The Trona Pinnacles are a National Natural Landmark in California southwest of Death Valley National Park. They are found in a large area in the Searles Lake basin and are formed of tufa (calcium carbonate). They are a popular sight for filming of commercials, television series and movies including Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Disney's Dinosaur, The Gate II, Lost in Space, and Planet of the Apes.
