My favorite kind of vegetal environment. I love the thick, low tangle of vegetation near beaches, an undisturbed variety of native species. And, the smell of it! Thankfully, I saw none of the highly invasive pampas grass here that bedevils much of the west coast. There are active eradication programs on public land, but on private land the awful stuff continues to multiply.
Too late for blackberries
Something strange about this lizard tail...

...look at the blunt end in large size. Doesn't it look like there is a metal rim or cap on it? I wish I'd noticed it when I took the photo.
