Waiting rooms are often the last places we want to be in: a curious hiatus of uncertainty. A waiting room is one of the last places you’d think of taking a photograph. These light-filled, defocused moments say something, to me, about finding something unusual and beautiful, even here. I used to pick up Good Housekeeping or Country Life. I was always happy to see a copy of Vogue. Now we just take out our phones. Next time I’ll be taking the odd photograph of the floor, the corner of a table, the windowsill.
