NC500 GT. - 40 – Smoo Cave

NC500 GT. - 40 – Smoo Cave
A short skip from Durness sits hidden away, the very impressive Smoo Cave. It has a combination of sea water and fresh water here. You see the starting point for a marvellous little underground tour consisting of a little walking and a small dingy/boat ride with a most proficient and enjoyable guide (at least in 2014 (˚◡˚) .) through the caverns and then to the Lake chamber.

The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems.

It was a good and most intersecting little tour Gordon. Thanks for enjoying the shot.

In interesting looking location Herb, very nicely composed and exposed. The detail you've captured in the dark bit of the cave are superb, especially when viewed large.

It was a fine tour Keith and I took a few HDR shots of which I think this was one. Great that you approved.

This is great Herb, keep them coming.
I remember going into cave over big stepping stones and being able to look up to water pouring in from an opening above. I am finding it quite amazing what clear memories I have of some of these places all those years ago, Colin

Yes, a lot of big stepping stones, a waterfall from above too. Rivers and lakes. All great fun. Glad this brought back memories.

Cheers. Herb

A superb capture from the inside Herb,
Do they still floodlight parts of it?
But I also remember all those steps on the way back up !

Yes it was all floodlit when we were there 10 years ago. A few big steps to the start of the tour too. Glad you liked it,

Cheers. Herb
