Dear members and friends of ipernity!
1) The final statement of the fundraising for the reprogramming of ipernity is now available. 75 club members and 145 "free" users participated. The sum of the raised capital amounts to 17,114 EUR (57% of 30,000 EUR). Therefore the reprogramming cannot yet be commissioned as planned.
2) Before we consider external funding opportunities, we would like to address those club members who have not participated to date, although they would be economically able to do so. We are extending our loan programme which is a really attractive investment opportunity with a 4.5% interest rate, until the end of the year. Please support the project! The sooner we start reprogramming, the sooner we can take advantage of the benefits we are all eagerly awaiting.
3) In addition, we continue to allow existing free users (account created before Dec. 1, 2018) to subscribe to an option on the future Basic Subscription. The contribution is 23.90 EUR (other currencies accordingly) for 12 months. You will get full club access until the future subscription structure is implemented in ipernity. (For technical reasons, however, this can only be done as part of the reprogramming.)
4) This is also an official call to all "free" users who want to keep their (invisible) content beyond August 15, 2019 to make use of this option in a timely manner. For cost reasons, we will clean up the ipernity database after August 15, 2019. Until then, the number of visible contents for "free" users will be gradually reduced to the guest status.
5) Although the cleanup would be legitimized by the existing terms of use, we have nevertheless made them more concrete in this respect. On this occasion we have made some further editorial changes. In addition, we now also make the Terms of Service available in the previously missing main languages Italian and Dutch. You can read the changes here.

1.4) ipernity shall have the right at its sole discretion to modify these Terms of Service in whole or in part at any time. Any changes shall be effective immediately following their posting on this website. In the event of a modification, ipernity will communicate the new Terms of Service to you via a newsflash in the team blog. Any subsequent use of this website following changes to these Terms of Service shall constitute your acceptance of all such changes.
4.1) ipernity is aware of the need to protect the privacy and security users of the Service, especially minors, as much as possible. [
ipernity is provided with a protection system against inappropriate Content: all Content is rated by the owner according to which public is aimed at; and on the other hand, each person using the Service must choose the most appropriate Content filter level. The rules of how the system operates can be consulted on www.ipernity.com/help/faq/filters.] When you upload Content, you are responsible for assigning the appropriate visibility option of private, family, friends or public. The reliability of the system cannot be 100% guaranteed. Parents who wish to allow their children access to the Service should assist them in setting up any relevant accounts and supervise their access to the Service. By allowing your child access to the Service, they will be able to access all of the Services including, internal email, message boards, instant messages and chat (among others). Please remember that the Service is designed to appeal to a broad audience. Accordingly, as the legal guardian, it is your responsibility to determine whether any of the services and/or Content is appropriate for your child.7.2) You acknowledge that ipernity has the right, at its sole discretion, to limit the speed and/or number of transmissions you may send or receive through the Service. ipernity reserves the right to permanently delete any content of your account after 3 months from the date of upload if the usage limits are exceeded, beginning with the oldest content as measured by the upload date.
7.4) When you cease using the Service, [
in particular on receipt of a certificate or any other legal document confirming your death,] ipernity will close your account what will lead to the loss of any content hosted on this account (see also 10.3.a).10.3) You agree that ipernity may, at any time and at its own discretion, terminate your access to the Service or close temporarily or permanently your account, especially in the following cases:
(a) extended period of inactivity for your account. This is the case if you have not logged into your account for more than 36 months.
[
13.1] 12.1) You agree to exempt and indemnify ipernity [subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers and employees] from any action or demand from third parties in connection with or resulting from your use of the Service, non-compliance with these Terms of Service or any other action related to the use of the Service. Therefore, you also agree to indemnify and hold ipernity harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages (real and substantial), actions, suits, judgments, legal fees and expenses of any kind and nature related thereto. In this event, ipernity will notify you in writing of any such requests, proceedings or actions.(Mise à jour : 2019-05-31)
(a) nach andauernder Inaktivität Ihres Kontos.

Bergfex club has replied to ╰☆☆June☆☆╮ clubIsabelle Barruhet club has replied to John Oram clubWith Paypal it works fine, but we understand that not everyone wants it. Credit card companies are a bit tricky. There would be two possibilities:
- Try it with different amounts, which result in the sum of the desired amount. Since I personally do the bookkeeping, I can deal with it.
- Alternatively, you can also make a single bank transfer to our account at Credit Agricole de Paris. This takes a few days longer, but is a very safe method.

raingirl club has replied to Annemarie clubif you are like me and never log out, you can find a tiny 'donate' link at the bottom of every page. it's in blue at the bottom right of the help&contact link along with other links.
Diane Putnam club has replied to raingirl club"We always appreciate DONATIONS! Ipernity is a group of friendly, dedicated members who all pitch in to keep the place running. We are volunteers and neither the site nor the members earn financial profit. We are here to do what we love and to support and appreciate the talents of all members. Every little donation helps! To become an official, paid member, click HERE."
Perhaps the TRANSLATE link could be included and made larger in this case. It's really, really important to make the language warm and friendly. Avoid getting technical about our reasons for needing donations. That can be done in the "become an official member" page. I have to say that it's NOT obvious how to find more info about Ipernity or how to join. The links at the bottom should be larger and one changed to say Join Ipernity, instead of Prices. There is plenty of white space on our pages, so we might as well use some of it for promoting ourselves. I realize there is a language complication, but that's the case with just about anyplace else on the internet.
Anyway, those are my suggestions addressed to everyone, not just raingirl! ;-)
Bonne nouvelle semaine à tous.

Unfortunately the organ of the church is no longer playable and also not refurbishable. Of the 250,000 EUR that a new organ costs, the parish has now collected 81,469 EUR. Because - in variation of a proverb: "Who wants to have music, must also pay for it."
Here we have the wonderful sharing platform ipernity. And although we have not only restructured it in the meantime, but have even improved some parts (let me mention the backup option of entire albums, which was made possible by your express wish!), there is no question that it must be reprogrammed as soon as possible. Ten years in the life of software is like 100 years for an organ. But here, too, the rule is: "Who wants to have music, must also pay for it."
Marco Zerbini probably never understood that. (After all, how can anyone complain about the lack of SSL encryption on the one hand, but not want to spend anything on it on the other? Who should pay the programmers if not us, the community of 1.400 paying users?)
We think you're more intelligent than Marco. And therefore we would be pleased if you would support the project of our community now, after we have fulfilled your wish.

I do it regularly, hoping this helps!

Jaap van 't Veen club has replied to Team clubDuring the conversion process, we also have to look very closely at whether the final value of 20 is really practical. We only invented it at the green table. There are already doubts as to whether it is not too low. Because such a low limit prevents newcomers from playing with ipernity in the first few weeks without having to book a trial account. In short: We still have to observe that isue. The next step will be a lowering to 50 (in four weeks). First of all, we observe and analyse the response to these measures of today.
Bernhard
Jaap van 't Veen club has replied to Team clubAls zodanig is deze structuur ook goedgekeurd door de algemene vergadering (...The future subscription grid is solidly worked out and only needs to be integrated into the site. The old ipernity code unfortunately simply does not allow this, so interim solutions must be implemented until ipernity has been reprogrammed....).
Bergfex club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubOf course, these hurdles have to be erected first. Whereby it is still true that they are very difficult to implement in the old ipernity code. Rob and I have been working for 14 days from 7 o'clock in the morning until often after midnight. Now we understand why Qwellcode waved. The ipernity program is so confused and poorly documented that it often doesn't react to changes the way it thinks. It needs a lot of intuition and patience, many attempts, and a high frustration tolerance. Fortunately, Rob and I have.
Today we are already quite happy that we have reached this intermediate result. Because from now on the situation changes noticeably for the former "free" users. Of course, we could have built in the limit at 20 immediately. But it was a decision of the ima-board not to annoy the guests with a hard cut, but to make the transition soft. (Board meeting of May 5, 2019, agenda item 3. The wording of the board decision. "In 2018 it was decided to limit the upload volume of free users to 20 when transferring to guest accounts. In order to avoid a hard cut and to give users the opportunity to adapt to the new conditions, this transition shall take place gradually. Rob is authorized to take all necessary measures to lower the upload limit for free users from 200 to 100 after May 15, 2019."
Incidentally, it is by no means the case that the General Assembly voted on the new structure. This was - as you rightly quote - very extensively publicly discussed, but was then put into effect by decision of the ima team on Nov 30, 2018: www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4714216 The General Meeting is not responsible for such minor details. It only blesses the big line, for example by expressly authorizing the board to take care of the reprogramming. How it does this best is then up to the board again. (Well hopefully.)
As far as the number of uploads by guests is concerned, you really don't have to be afraid. Since yesterday the maximum upload file size for guests is 2.5 MB. This eliminates the possibility to upload space-intensive RAW files and/or videos. We have now put a stop for uploading hundreds of gigabytes for free. To give you an idea of it: The 10 most memory cosuming "free users" occupy 0.74 TB of storage space at AWS and thus cause annual costs of 385 EUR (incl. tax). This will be cutted in August, and in future such uncontrolled growth will no longer be possible due to the measures taken.
Concerning your fears: If all 20,000 guests fully utilize the limit of 20 uploads, they occupy 1TB of AWS disk space. This costs 430 EUR annually (incl. tax). At a limit of 50, the costs would increase by 650 EUR to 1.080 EUR annually, which we really don't have to argue about. In short: Financial aspects are secondary when considering the question of whether the limit should be 20 or 50.
(edit: When calculating the storage costs, a factorial error had crept in. The figures above were corrected. This does not change the statement.)
The external impact is much more important. How do potential interested people perceive the limits? What does the trade press think? What will our standing be like compared to Flickr? Will our position in existing rankings improve or deteriorate? You can hardly predict all this. What is certain is that a hard cut may cause more public anger than a gradual approach to the optimum. You can trust that the ima team will consider and discuss all these issues and balance our decisions very carefully.
For now, it's: we're going the way of this intermediate step of 100, with the last 200 content still accessible to the users themselves. They should have the opportunity to adapt to the new situation. We will also notify them all individually by e-mail. At the next board meeting, the ima team will then discuss and decide on how to proceed. In any case, we will keep the target date of August 15 until the final conversion of the accounts - maybe somewhat changed with respect to the former blueprint, maybe not. In any case, however, we will explain the reasons here transparently if there should be changes.
(By the way: new members don't automatically get Trial. The have to apply for it. But most of them buy a full membership directly.)
Jaap van 't Veen club has replied to Bergfex clubps: personally, I wouldn't call a subject that has been discussed so extensively a 'minor detail'.
Bergfex club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubThe General Assembly really has bigger tasks than taking care of details. It sets the goals and chooses from the circle of members those who should ensure that these goals are achieved. It controls the achievement of the goals and intervenes only in extreme emergencies. But even then not in detail, but by changing the actors. A supervisory organ conducts supervision, not the operative business.
But, just for you, another result from a multitude of analyses and calculations:
Setting the content limit to [50], 7,949 guest are affected (with more than 50 files of content). In total, they require 2.02 million files and a storage capacity of 4.75 terabytes. AWS charges 2,483 EUR per year for this. After the cleanup, 397,000 visible files (19.7%) would remain. The remaining storage costs are 463 EUR. The savings are 2,020 EUR per year, 168 EUR per month. (Only invisible content will be deleted!)
At a higher limit of [100], only 5,790 guest accounts would be affected. These take up 1.86 million files and 4.44 terabytes of storage space. The AWS costs amount to 2.318 EUR annually. After cleanup there would still be 289,550 visible files left which with costs of 349 EUR annually. The saving would be 1,969 EUR per year or 164 EUR per month. The differences between both variants (51 EUR annually, 4,25 EUR monthly) are negligible.
With other words: From an economic point of view, it is completely irrelevant whether we set the limit at 20, 50 or 100. For this decision, other aspects are important, which are equally extensive and which I do not therefore wish to expand in the same way. However, you can be sure that we as ima team work as professionally as we are (or were) used to from our daily business job.
Team club has replied to Pat Del clubipernity nous sommes tous ensemble.
In the event of death of an account holder, club accounts should be extended free of charge until the end of the year of mourning if the ima-team becomes aware of this. An heir is permitted to continue an account under the existing nick name if she/he registers under his real name and with a valid e-mail address, as required by the Terms of Use."

What I'm not fine with is finding out I cannot access 67 pics because they are hidden. I would much appreciate it if you could make them visible for now so we can at least make our own choice as to which pics to delete to get down to the 100 photos limit.
When the new flickr owners restricted free members to 1000 pics that was bad. But at least they gave us many months to reorganize our photostream and delete the photos ourselves. For Ipernity to not give us that option is just bad.

the new subscription model for April 1, 2019 was already announced on November 30, 2018, both on the info panel on the log-in page and in the ipernity Team blog. Moreover, personal e-mails were also sent to all those affected.
At the beginning of April 2019, the deadline was extended to May 15, 2019, and on May 3, 2019 there was another note on the team blog. So there was a total announcement period of five and a half months - much longer than at Flickr!
And still it is not so far! Firstly, we have extended the deletion period to 1 September 2019. So you have more than two months time again. Secondly, as the ima team, we are well aware of your situation. That's why we are happy to help!
This morning, 17,600 e-mails were sent to affected users. You should also have received one. Please also have a look at your spam folder. With this e-mail we explain the situation again and offer exactly the help you are asking for.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me again.

Levina de Ruijter has replied to Team clubThe deadline you speak of, yes, I knew that. What I did not know was that the free limit had been reduced from 200 images to 100. In which email was this announced? Because I'm not active here any more and do not read blogs and newsflashes so if it was announced in a blog or a newsflash then I obviously missed that.
If I'm allowed, I would like to keep the images that I still have here and trimming them down to a 100 images is also no problem. But since the limit of 200 free pics went down to 100, I can't do this myself any longer as everything over 100 is now hidden and I have no longer access to it.
Thank you for your compliment on my portfolio. :)
I officially answered you above. Privately I would like to add: You have a beautiful portfolio. But because of my commitment to ipernity, I myself unfortunately have far too little time to appreciate it. But surely many would be happy if you would not cut it down, but make it accessible in its entirety.
Just as we volunteers invest many hundreds of hours a year in this wonderful photo sharing platform without getting or expecting a cent for it, you could contribute a small amount of money to ipernity's financial basis. Because unlike Flickr, ipernity has not abolished the "Grandfather" fare, but on the contrary has introduced it. You can use it to upgrade your account to a volume of up to 2000 images at half the standard rate. It's called "basic subscription" for ipernity and is even automatically offered to you under your account settings because you meet the requirements.
The community of members would certainly appreciate it. Because differently than the giants we finance ourselves as a self-administered association exclusively over membership fees and make no profit!
it's true that in August 2018 the old limit of 200 uploads was still valid. The change did not come until the end of November 2018 under the new contribution model. As described above, it has been published many times. The penultimate mail was sent to all concerned on March 2, 2019 (take a look here). Furthermore, yesterday at 08:41 CEST another mail was sent to 17,602 affected guest users in all seven major languages of ipernity.
Please check your spam folder again. There you will also find the help for downloading your content.

This is about me wanting to choose the 100 photos on display here. This is about the free limit of 200 photos going down to 100 photos without me being informed about it.
Yes, I did receive the email in March 2019. But there was NO mention of the limit going down from 200 images to 100. None of the links in your last response here to me mention the free limit going down. So how was I to know?
Can't you simply give me access to all the images for a few days so I can delete pics of my own choice until I have 100 left? That would solve the problem.
Bergfex club has replied to Levina de RuijterMoreover, if a topic such as the future design of subscription packages has been widely discussed for 7 months, if the team blog and info panel on the log-in page continuously point out relevant news, and if two different signalizations on the user page point out novelties, then that really has to be enough. Fortnightly e-mails with all relevant announcements to all 24,000 users would certainly provoke an angry protest because most would feel annoyed by such a flood. If one reads ". . . the scope of services for free accounts has to be reduceced . . ." in a mail like the one from March, it is actually quite natural that one informs oneself if one has missed the associated discourse. And then one would know that it's not just about changing the upload limit, but many other features as well.
In your first comment you complained about being less informed at ipernity than at Flickr. That all information is available in detail has been clarified in the meantime. To read them and to ask if somtehing is unclear for you, we can't relieve you.
I'm down to 99 pics now, by the way... :)
FAQ 1.2 - Is ipernity a free or a paid service?
Team club has replied to Bergfex clubMerci!
However, a single file in the guest account may not be larger than 2.5 MB:
As we've tested by management action, upload of files <2,5 MB works without any problems at your account:
