"Hello It's Me" was first recorded in 1968 by Nazz (Todd Rundgren, Thom Mooney, Carson Van Osten and Robert Antoni) for their self-titled first album. The single featuring lead vocal by Robert "Stewkey`Antoni was originally a B side. According to Wikipedia: "In 1952, the American comedian Lord Buckley recorded a popular monologue, "The Nazz", which is a re-telling of the story of Jesus of Nazareth. Buckley's monologue inspired the song "The Nazz Are Blue" by British rock group The Yardbirds from their album Roger the Engineer. Nazz borrowed their name from the Yardbirds song. Todd Rundgren stated in an interview that the group did not realize the origin of the name."
The solo Todd Rundgren hit with "Hello It's Me" when the edited version reached number five in 1973. The full track is from the double album "Something/Anything?". Todd composed, played, sang, produced and engineered the entire album.
