Bob Hope with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lang
Sports editor Ed Lang had hoped to take his wife to see a Bob Hope performance, but he was injured in a car accident when he was enroute to get the tickets. So Hope visited the Langs in Lang's hospital room.

A blues piano icon, Joe Willie takes a break. Originally a guitarist, he took up blues and boogie piano following a "misunderstanding" involving a woman and a knife that resulted in severed tendons in his left arm. Touring until the end, he died in 2011. He was 97 years old.
