The original Saint-Yves Bridge was built entirely of wood on stilts and was washed away in 1773 in a severe flood. Rebuilt based on the same model, it was destroyed again at the beginning of the 20th C. Today's reinforced concrete arch bridge dates from this period and consists of a single span to protect against flooding. PONT EN ARC. Le pont Saint-Yves initial est construit entièrement en bois sur des poteaux, et est emporté lors d’une forte crue en 1773. Reconstruit sur le même modèle, il est une nouvelle fois détruit au début du XXe siècle. Construit en béton armé, le pont en arc actuel date de cette époque, il est fait d’une seule travée afin de le protéger des inondations. BOGENBRÜCKE. Die ursprüngliche Saint-Yves-Brücke war ganz aus Holz auf Pfählen gebaut und wurde 1773 bei einem starken Hochwasser weggespült. Nach dem gleichen Vorbild wieder aufgebaut, wurde sie Anfang des 20. Jh. erneut zerstört. Aus dieser Zeit stammt die heutige Bogenbrücke aus Stahlbeton, die zum Schutz vor Hochwasser aus einer einzigen Spanne besteht.

Pontrieux est surnommée la « Venise bretonne ». C'est tout simplement un plaisir de flâner dans les ruelles entre les vieilles maisons à pans de bois ou de pierres naturelles et de découvrir plus de 50 lavoirs rénovés au bord du Trieux (en voir 4 dans le PiP). Vous pouvez les voir "de près" lors d'une balade en bateau, très pittoresque. Ces anciens lavoirs répondaient aux besoins des habitants de la ville au XIXe siècle : murs de pierre, charpente en bois et toit en ardoise. Les « plus luxueuses » avaient un deuxième étage où logeaient les domestiques. LIKE IN A FAIRY TALE. Pontrieux is called the "Breton Venice". It is simply a big pleasure to stroll through the alleys between the old half-timbered or natural stone houses and discover more than 50 renovated washhouses on the banks of the Trieux river (see 4 of them in the PiP). You can see them "up close" during a boat trip, very picturesque. These old wash houses met the needs of the city's residents in the 19th C.: stone walls, a wooden frame and a slate roof. The "most luxurious" had a second floor on which the servants were accommodated. WIE IN EINEM MÄRCHEN. Pontrieux wird das "bretonische Venedig" genannt. Es ist einfach ein Genuss, zwischen den alten Fachwerk- oder Natursteinhäusern durch die Gassen zu schlendern und am Ufer des Flusses Trieux mehr als 50 renovierte Waschhäuser zu entdecken (4 davon im PiP). Man kann sie sich "hautnah" während einer Bootsfahrt ansehen, total malerisch. Diese alten Waschhäuser entsprachen den Bedürfnissen der Bewohner der Stadt im 19. Jh.: Steinmauern, ein Holzgerüst und ein Schieferdach. Die "luxuriösesten" hatten einen 2. Stock, in dem die Dienerschaft untergebracht war.

2° place au CWP "Contest Without Price" (2023/08): "Facades". Cette maison du 15e siècle dite la "Tour Eiffel" est l'emblème de la ville de Pontrieux. Autrefois sa silhouette élancée s'est démarquée des autres maisons. Anciennement désignée la "Maison Tour", elle prend le nom de Tour Eiffel au début du 20e siècle. Sa haute taille rappellerait la "dame de fer" parisienne construite en 1889. THE "EIFFEL TOWER" OF PONTRIEUX. This 15th C. house known as the "Eiffel Tower" is the emblem of the city of Pontrieux. Formerly its slender silhouette stood out from other houses. First known as the "Maison Tour" (Tower house), it took the name of the Eiffel Tower at the start of the 20th C. Its tall stature was said to be reminiscent of the Parisian "iron lady" built in 1889. DER "EIFFELTURM" von Pontrieux. Dieses als "Eiffelturm" bekannte Haus aus dem 15. Jh. ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Pontrieux. Seine hohe Silhouette hob sich früher von anderen Häusern ab. Ehemals als "Maison Tour" (Turmhaus) bekannt, nahm es Anfang des 20. Jh. den Namen Eiffelturm an. Seine hohe Statur sollte an die 1889 erbaute Pariser „Eiserne Dame“ erinnern.

La "Presviata Pokrova" de 22 m de long est une parfaite réplique d'un mélange entre drakkar et galère cosaque ukrainienne du 16e siècle. Appelé tchaïka, elle a navigué sur les mers d'Europe au gré de plusieurs périples et est arrivée au port de Pont-Aven en 2011, pour la "Fête des vieux gréements". Mais après la fête, elle n'avait pas pu reprendre la mer. (NOT) READY TO GO! C’est à Plouray que bat le pouls de la spiritualité bouddhique de Bretagne, tournée vers la tradition orale des Drupka (le Dalaï-Lama y est reçu en 2008). Blotti au milieu des bois, le centre bouddhique est dédié à l’étude et la pratique du bouddhisme tibétain et est aussi un havre de paix pour se ressourcer. Le centre est constitué d’un stupa, d’un temple, d’un jardin de méditation et d’un moulin à prières. BUDDHA IN THE LAND OF KING MORVAN (he is considered the first king of a unified Brittany. Mitten im Wald gelegen, widmet sich das buddhistische Zentrum dem Studium und der Praxis des tibetischen Buddhismus und ist auch eine Oase der Ruhe, um neue Energie zu tanken. Das Zentrum besteht aus einem Stupa, einem Tempel, einem Meditationsgarten und einer Gebetsmühle.

Cette chapelle possède le tombeau de St. Eloan (un ermite du 7° s. venu d'Irlande en Bretagne). C'est un sarcophage en granite partiellement encastré en travers du mur sud du chœur de la chapelle (voir PiP). La chapelle actuelle remplace un édifice plus ancien. Sa construction fait suite à l'enquête menée en 1646 sur "L'eau miraculeuse du sarcophage" : en effet, au début du 17° s, après avoir ramassé la statue du saint gisant à terre, une femme lui demande une récompense. Le lendemain, le sarcophage du saint se retrouve rempli d'eau et de nombreuses guérisons s'y réalisent... COUNTRY CHAPEL. This chapel has the tomb of St. Eloan (a 7th C. hermit who came from Ireland to Brittany). It is a granite sarcophagus partially embedded across the south wall of the chancel of the chapel (see PiP). The current chapel replaces an older building. Its construction follows the investigation carried out in 1646 on the "miraculous water of the sarcophagus": in fact, at the beginning of the 17th C., after having picked up the statue of the saint lying on the ground, a woman asked him for a reward. The next day, the saint's sarcophagus is filled with water and many healings take place there... KAPELLE AUF DEM LAND. In dieser Kapelle befindet sich das Grab des Hl. Eloan (Einsiedler aus dem 7. Jh., der aus Irland in die Bretagne kam). Es handelt sich um einen Granitsarkophag, der teilweise in die Südwand des Chores der Kapelle eingelassen ist (siehe PiP) Die heutige Kapelle wurde auf einem älteren Gebäude erbaut. Sein Bau folgt der Untersuchung des "wundersamen Sarkophag-Wassers" im Jahr 1646 : Anfang des 17. Jh. bat eine Frau ihn, nachdem sie die am Boden liegende Statue des Heiligen aufgehoben hatte, um eine Belohnung. Am nächsten Tag ist der Sarkophag des Heiligen mit Wasser gefüllt und viele Heilungen finden dort statt...

On the site of the "Carrière du Rocher Coupé" (former stone quarry), the pathway leads around this magnificent natural site near the castle. From the various promontories, you can admire the panorama over the town and the fortress. BANC POUR LE REPOS... que l'on a bien mérité si on a grimpé jusqu'ici, au-dessus du lac. Sur le site de la Carrière du Rocher Coupé (ancienne carrière), le sentier aménagé permet de faire le tour de ce magnifique site naturel près du château. Depuis les différents promontoires, on peut admirer le panorama sur la ville et la forteresse. BANK ZUM AUSRUHEN... die man sich redlich verdient hat, wenn man bis hierher über den See geklettert ist. Auf dem Gelände von "Carrière du Rocher Coupé" (ehemaliger Steinbruch) kann man auf dem angelegten Pfad die schöne Naturlandschaft in der Nähe der Burg umrunden. Von den verschiedenen Felsvorsprüngen aus kann man das Panorama auf die Stadt und die Festung bewundern. .

Breathe in the atmosphere of a quaint Middle Ages, now gone silent - you can do this in Dinan on Jerzual Street. It is a narrow street that climbs from the harbour on the banks of the Rance to the city centre. Visitors come here from all over the world. The oldest street in Dinan was a poor and noisy commercial street until the 19th C, but today it is a tourist attraction that has preserved its beautiful old architecture. "CLOTURE DE BALCON" HISTORIQUE. Respirer l’atmosphère d’un moyen-âge pittoresque devenu silencieux - c'est ce que vous pouvez faire à Dinan, dans la rue du Jerzual. C'est une rue étroite qui monte depuis le port sur les bords de la Rance jusqu’au centre. Des visiteurs du monde entier viennent y flâner. Jusqu’au XIXe siècle, artère commerciale, pauvre et bruyante, la rue la plus ancienne de Dinan est devenue aujourd’hui une curiosité touristique et a gardé sa belle architecture ancienne. HISTORISCHER "BALKON-ZAUN". Die Atmosphäre eines malerischen, nun still gewordenen Mittelaters einatmen - das kann man in Dinan in der Jerzual-Strasse tun. Es ist eine schmale Strasse, die vom Hafen am Ufer der Rance bis ins Zentrum hinaufsteigt. Besucher aus der ganzen Welt kommen hierher. Die älteste Strasse von Dinan war bis ins 19. Jh. eine arme und laute Handelsstrasse, heute ist sie eine Touristenattraktion, die ihre schöne alte Architektur bewahrt hat.

Sur la pointe de Grainfollet à Saint Suliac se trouve un oratoire dédié à la Sainte Vierge. A l’époque de la grande pêche à Terre-Neuve, bon nombre de marins étaient natifs de St Suliac. A la fin du 19e siècle, ils firent un vœu : construire un sanctuaire à la Vierge s’ils revenaient vivants. De cette pointe, on a une vue dégagée sur le village et la Rance qui se jette ici dans la Manche. THE VIRGIN WITH BACKLIGHT. On the headland "Grainfollet" in Saint Suliac there is an oratory dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. At the time of the great fishing in Newfoundland, many of the sailors came from this place. Auf der Landspitze "Grainfollet" in Saint Suliac befindet sich ein Oratorium, das der Hl. Jungfrau gewidmet ist. Zur Zeit des großen Fischfangs in Neufundland stammten viele der Seeleute aus dem Ort. Ende des 19. Jh. legten sie ein Gelübde ab: sie wollten der Jungfrau Maria einen Schrein bauen, wenn sie lebend zurückkämen. Von dieser Landspitze aus hat man einen schönen Blick auf das Städtchen und den Fluss Rance, der hier in den Ärmelkanal mündet.

C'est un fleuve côtier, longue de 104 km qui se jette dans la Manche entre Dinard et St Malo. A son embouchure se situe le barrage à écluses de l'usine marémotrice qui exploite les fortes marées s'engouffrant dans l’estuaire pour produire de l'électricité. Avec une capacité installée de 240 MW, elle a été pendant 45 ans la plus grande centrale marémotrice du monde jusqu'en 2011. Depuis, elle a été détrônée par une centrale en Corée du Sud, légèrement plus puissante avec 254 MW (PiP scannée d'après carte postale). ON THE BANKS OF THE RANCE, a coastal river, 104 km long, which flows into the English Channel between Dinard and St Malo. At its mouth is the lock dam of the tidal power plant which uses the strong tides flowing into the estuary to produce electricity. With an installed capacity of 240 MW, it was the largest tidal power plant in the world for 45 years until 2011. It was dethroned by a plant in South Korea, slightly more powerful (254 MW). An seiner Mündung befindet sich der Schleusenstaudamm des Gezeitenkraftwerks, das die starken Gezeiten, die in die Mündung eindringen, zur Stromerzeugung nutzt. Mit einer installierten Kapazität von 240 MW war es 45 Jahre lang bis 2011 das grösste Gezeitenkraftwerk der Welt. Seitdem wurde es von einem Kraftwerk in Südkorea abgelöst, das mit 254 MW etwas leistungsstärker ist. (PiP nach Postkarte gescannt).

Le canal Ille-et-Rance est le plus ancien canal artificiel de Bretagne (1804-1832). Il relie les villes de Rennes et Saint-Malo et comporte 48 écluses sur 85 km. 1972 voit le dernier transport de marchandises, mais le tourisme fluvial donne une nouvelle jeunesse au canal. Aujourd'hui c'est une voie d’eau bucolique bordée d’arbres, de champs et de son chemin de halage. ALONG THE ILLE-ET-RANCE CANAL. It's the oldest artificial canal in Brittany (1804-1832). It connects the cities of Rennes and Saint-Malo and has 48 locks over 85 km. 1972 sees the last transport of goods, but river tourism gives new life to the canal. Today it is a bucolic waterway lined with trees, fields and its towpath. ENTLANG DES KANALS ILLE-ET-RANCE. Es ist der älteste künstliche Kanal der Bretagne (1804-1832). Er verbindet die Städte Rennes und Saint-Malo und verfügt über 48 Schleusen auf 85 km. 1972 findet der letzte Warentransport statt, aber der Flusstourismus haucht dem Kanal neues Leben ein. Heute ist es eine idyllische Wasserstrasse, die von Bäumen, Feldern und einem Treidelpfad gesäumt ist.
