  • Schneekristalle fotografieren

    Collage Schneekristalle
Schneekristalle faszinieren mich.

  • Australian Fires

I must begin this article by offering my very sincere thanks for the kind messages of support and concern we have received from so many ipernity members. It really has brought home to me that this is a very caring community group, not merely a photo sharing site. The essential point you need to know is that Pauline and I, and our furry friends, are safe and well and apart from being covered in soot and losing power and communications, our property has not been affected by the fires. As at wri…

  • Thank Goodness For Ipernity

I've been reading today about all the myriad problems they're having over on Fl*ckr still and all the new ones as well. They are literally imploding right in front of our eyes over there! Thank goodness we have a photo-sharing website like Ipernity that just works and does all we need it to. Plus, we're not given continuous "improvements" all the time that are anything but improvements. To show how I feel so warm and fuzzy about this place, I'll add a cute picture of a kitten so everybody…

  • Taking a short Break...

A lot has been going on in my life lately, and if you don't see much of me during the next few weeks, it's because I'll be taking a rest from all the websites I participate in. It seems that I've lost some of my enthusiasm for photography and just need to "recharge the batteries" so-to-speak. My deepest thanks and appreciation to all of my friends who have commented and faved my work over the years. Hopefully ipernity will have many more years for us to continue on as a community. I wish you a p…

  • Irritating to Disappointing - Photos Without Titles, Strange Names and other Nuisances

What I find somewhat irritating - not only here, but on all similar platforms - are beautiful and well composed photos which just come along with the file name assigned by the camera such as IMG_4711 and nothing else. I see a breathtaking landscape or seascape, a cityscape, a plane or ship or whatever and don't have the foggyest idea as to what or where this may be. Is it so difficult to add a title or give a short explanation? I personally find this practise irritating. Therefore I will not com…

  • More Tears for France...

What can one say when terrorism seems to rule the day? Where are the leaders who can do something about this? Is there no one who can stop terrorist groups like ISIS in it's tracks? My heart grieves for the citizens and tourists who lost their lives during another senseless act of terror in Nice, France. I am sick of crying and sick of being angry and helpless at seeing the bad guys win all the time. We must put a stop to this madness, or civilization as we know it will cease to exist.

  • Broken Computer

I might be off for awhile since my Mac died this morning. I have a back up "computer", but I'm not sure how reliable it will be. Just so everyone knows where I disappeared to. Take care all! Karen :)

  • 25,000 Wow!

After just celebrating my 2 year anniversary on Ipernity I have reached 25,000 visits. A big "Thank You!" to all my contacts and other visitors for your visits. I really appreciate it and I hope you will all continue visiting me. And thank you Ipernity for being a really nice website. Karen

  • The Making Of A Snowglobe On Ice ...

    Snowglobe On Ice ...
Okay folks, been asked how I went about producing the above image, so here's a quick overview. Please remember though that I'm no expert at all this layering and texturing malarkey. In many ways I'm still a beginner and there are lots of folks on here much better at it than me, but I appreciate people asking how I did what I did, so here goes: I began, as we all did this week in The Sunday Challenge by working with an image called Snowman Christmas , which was produced by UNKWinc over…

  • Flickr To Profit From Creative Commons ...

Thanks to some friends in The Sunday Challenge for bringing this to the attention of members I thought it might be of some interest to others in the wider ipernity community, at least those who've not already heard about it: "Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Yahoo! will begin selling prints of 50 million Creative Commons-licensed images uploaded by Flickr users as well as an unspecified number of other photos uploaded by users that will be handpicked from Flickr. Images bea…
