Taken at a local Mexican restaurant where I was being treated to a birthday dinner. I used a Magicube attached on the Instamatic for the lighting. This shot was taken with my eighteenth camera, which I've had since the 1970s. The owner of the restaurant saw my Instamatic with the flashcube attached and came over and commented on it. He said he used to have one just like it back in the late 1970s. I said I did, too, and this was it.

A closeup of an old Magicube flash cube. These were made for Instamatic cameras and didn’t require batteries to make them flash. This hasn’t been cropped at all, it’s just that with the 2x tele-converter and the +3 close-up lens, it allows me to get this close to a small object. It turned out grainy due to the expired film and I also noticed that this particular combination of lenses makes for a pretty shallow depth-of-field.
This particular Magicube is a Sylvania Blue Dot Magicube - a classic flash cube brand.

A picture showing some of my cameras with flashcubes and Magicubes attached. Flashcubes need a camera with a battery to function, but Magicubes will work without batteries - they're Magic !
I have placed a note on which cameras use flashcubes and which ones use Magicubes, so you can tell the difference. Here lately, I've been using Magicubes much more than flashcubes. I need to stock up on them, my supply is getting low.
