The Corran Point Lighthouse at Ardgour, - an image from the archives. The Corran Ferry near Fort William in Scotland, crosses Loch Linnhe at the Corran Narrows, travelling across to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. It is a well used service and although only a short distance as the crow flies, the ferry saves a car journey of over and hour between Corran and Ardgour. Captured at Port Logan, looking across to the pier and old lighthouse/bell tower. The three stage circular lighthouse tower with open light chamber to the third stage was built in 1818 and has been designated as a category B listed building. According to the Visit Scotland site the tower was designed by Thomas Telford. Port Logan is a pretty village and was the location for the BBC series ' '2000 Acres of Sky,' and was used as a location in the film 'Keepers' starring Gerard Butler All that aside it is just a pleasant place to sit and take in the view. Dunollie Lighthouse overlooked by Dunollie Castle. Clan chiefs and Lords of Lorn ruled over a large part of Argyll for over 1000 years from Dunolli. It remains the seat and ancestral home of Clan MacDougall.

Watchet Harbour. The photo shows the remains of the West Somerset Mineral Railway. The line opened c1861 and ore mined in the Brendan Hills was transported to Watchet and then shipped on to Newport for the ironworks at Ebbw Vale. Fog Horn at Ardnamurchan Lighthouse on Ardnamurchan Point, the most westerly point in mainland Britain. In the distance can be seen the Small Islands of the Inner Hebrides The lighthouse itself was designed by Alan Stevenson, the uncle of Robert Louis Stevenson. It was manned by two lighthouse keepers, who supplemented their income and food supply by keeping cows and sheep on the surrounding land
