1964 Alvis TE 21 - 8213 KR
11 Apr 2014 |
The Alvis Three Litre Series III sports saloon or drophead coupé, also known as TE 21, was produced by English manufacturer Alvis between 1963 and 1966 with a body built by Mulliner Park Ward, who were well known bespoke coachbuilders of the time.
Although the car was replaced by the TF 21 in 1966, the TE 21 was reportedly still in stock and "available to special order" until 1967. Needless to say it was a rare sight on the roads back then and is even rarer now!
1969 Hillman Super Imp - PHP 349G
10 Apr 2014 |
The Hillman Imp was a compact, rear-engined saloon car, manufactured under the Hillman marque by the Rootes Group from 1963 through until 1976.
The Imp was assembled at a then new, purpose-built plant at Linwood near Paisley in the West of Scotland.

1984 Audi Quattro - A845 LNG
09 Apr 2014 |
The Audi Quattro is a road and rally car, some might even say automotive icon, which was produced by the German manufacturer. It was first shown at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show and production of the original version continued through until 1991.
Okay it might be a white one, but what the heck ... fire up the Quattro!
1966 Amphicar - FOT 423D
09 Apr 2014 |
The Amphicar is, as you can probably guess simply by the name and its appearance, an amphibious automobile.
In the Sixties, the German vehicle was manufactured by the Quandt Group who only made around 4,000 of them meaning that today they are highly sought after novelties.
Things At Car Shows
1965 Ford Cortina Mk1 GT - EHT 431C

Remember the Cortina engine bay I posted earlier?
Well here's a shot of the car overall.
1971 Jaguar E-Type - GGF 379J

Don't get me wrong, the car was nice, but it was really the bumper sticker and the quadruple exhaust that caught my eye!
1957 Chevrolet GMC Bel Air - 624 XUK

Yet more US detailing for you.
Like the Caddy, this Bel Air is another 'regular' at the shows I attend.
1962 Cadillac Sedan De Ville - PFF 306
1965 Morris Minor Convertible - EUL 454C
07 Apr 2014 |
Externally this Minor was quite stunning, thanks mainly to the shade of red they'd opted for.
I liked the interior trimming too, but just felt the carpets let it down a little. Shame, because otherwise it was a gem!
1965 Volvo Amazon - GYH 854C
06 Apr 2014 |
Always had a thing about the Amazon, especially the 2-door models like this one.
Probably because they make me think of the Rover P5, which is another of my favourite old cars.
Dogs At Car Shows

Could be the little chap from the book stall minus his tag and with a different coat.
See note for previous image.
1995 MG RV8 - M473 BHG

This is another that I've seen a couple of times.
It's always nicely turned out and well presented ... see notes in the above photo for a shot of it with the top down.
1980 Vauxhall Chevette L - VWP 442V

Always makes me smile when I see one of these as back in the Eighties my girlfriend's Dad (now my father-in-law) had one of these.
1986 Opel Manta GT/E - D134 ETC
05 Apr 2014 |
I love the Opel Manta and this is the engine bay of one of the best I've seen in this area.
I took two angles and couldn't decide which I liked best so I've uploaded them both. See the photo in notes for a reminder of how this beauty looks overall.

1999 Panther Kallista - V6 PAN
04 Apr 2014 |
As you can see this V6 powered Panther was parked up next to the Cadillac from earlier.
Given the similarity in the maroon paint I'd not be surprised to find out they're from the same household.
1958 Standard 10 - PSJ 569
04 Apr 2014 |
The Standard Motor Company was founded in Coventry, England in 1903 with the Standard name last used in Britain in 1963, and in India in 1987.
As best I can tell this is a Standard 10 or at least that's what the badge on the bonnet said. However, I've also seen them described as a Super Ten though I've been unable to find out what the difference, if any, actually is.
