Manufactured in 1973, this face-lifted Mk1 Capri wasn't actually registered until the following year, which was when the Mk2 entered the scene.

The Ford Consul Classic is a mid-sized car that was built by Ford UK from 1961 to 1963. It was available in two or four door saloon form, in Standard or Deluxe versions, and with floor or column gearshift. The Ford Consul Capri, as seen here, was a 2-door coupé version of the Classic, and was available from 1961 through until 1964.

1985 Ford Capri Laser Mk3 - B799 GVV

This Mk3 Capri Laser was parked on the fringes of the show and up for sale. If you'd had just short of £3,000 in your back pocket you could have walked away with your very own British 'Mustang'.

I've seen this particular car a few times now and never tire (no pun intended) of seeing it!

Classics In The Sun ...

30 Dec 2014 1 2 801
When the last Capri was made in the Eighties, 1,886,647 cars had rolled off the various production lines. Most of those (more than a million) were the MkI, because the MkI sold well in North America and Australia, while the MkII and MkIII were only exported outside Europe (to Asia and New Zealand) in limited numbers. With the Beetle, Mini, Fiat 500 and the Scirocco, to name but 4 'old' cars that have been rejuvenated and revamped in recent years you do wonder if Ford are missing a trick by not having resurrected the Capri brand? Can't help but think that there would be massive interest in a MkIV Capri, especially here in the UK.

Just in case the last shot of the engine on Stuart Turp's M1 Capri wasn't taken close enough for you, here's another ... this time taken from right underneath the bonnet!

As you can see from the showcard, this beautiful Mk1 Capri is owned, or at least was owned, by Stuart Turp from Barnsley ... lucky guy if he still has it!

1964 Ford Consul Capri - ARH 979B

05 Jul 2014 5 4 1968
The Ford Consul Capri coupé was produced by Ford of Britain between 1961 and 1964 and prior to launch was code named "Sunbird" as it took design elements from both the Ford Thunderbird and the Ford Galaxie Sunliner. However, the car eventually proved to be very expensive to produce and in the latter part of its production was running alongside the very popular Ford Cortina. Sales were disappointing and so the Consul Capri was removed from sale.

The Ford Capri 280 was perhaps the ultimate Capri and is much sought after today. When you see one this good you can understand why and that's before you've even got behind the steering wheel.

I just love the Ford Capri, especially the Mk1 facelift model like this one with the twin headlights. If ever I was going to swap my old Scirocco for something from the Seventies or Eighties I can imagine it might be a Capri.

And just because you can never have too much of a good thing, here's another Consul Capri. This one is also from 1964 and first registered on 4 February just 6 days before PEF 126.

According to the sign in the back window this car was owned by someone called Mr T Clover for 37 years. Not sure if that was the first 37 years or the last 37 when I took the shot. Either way that's quite something and this is quite a car!
