1972 Volvo P1800ES - CSN 694K

I've always loved the lines of the Volvo P1800 ever since seeing the white one driven by Simon Templar, played by Roger Moore, in the TV series "The Saint". This particular one though is the much rarer 1800ES, a coupé station wagon with an all-glass tailgate, which was introduced in 1972. Only around 8,000 of these were actually produced.

Not quite what you exect to come across at a classic car show. The popular name given to the Volvo TP21 by its users was Sugga, that translates from Swedish to “sow” in English. You can read more about one in particular by following the link below: totalcarmagazine.com/classicandbeloved/2013/06/23/volvo_tp21_sugga_1956

Two very tidy Mk2 Golfs from the late Eighties snuggle up beside a Volvo Amazon ... don't you just love car shows?

I just love these old Volvo cars and this was, and remains, one of the best I've seen.

Always had a thing about the Amazon, especially the 2-door models like this one. Probably because they make me think of the Rover P5, which is another of my favourite old cars.

1972 Volvo and an MG from 1938 were just two of the fabulous cars soaking up the North Yorkshire sunshine.

Not so fussed on the colour of this one, but I do like this style of Volvo.

1970 Volvo P130 Amazon - WHU 709H

The Volvo Amazon was manufactured by Volvo Cars from 1956 to 1970 and so this two-door model from 1970 would have been among the last to have been manufactured. It was powered by the newly designed B20 engine which was used from 1969 to 1981 in various Volvo models including the 1800, 140, and 240 series.

In August 1974, Volvo presented a new generation of cars called the 240 and 260 Series. These new models had been developed from the 140 series and were very similar to their predecessors. Volvo's 240 model almost became a classic in its own lifetime as it was produced for nearly 20 years. On two occasions, the car was given a facelift, for the 1981 and 1986 model years. In all, more than 2.8 million cars in the 240/260 series were built. Find out more about Volvo over the years by clicking the link below: www.volvoclub.org.uk

Sadly, I can't confirm the exact year or the specification of this old Volvo as the DVLA no longer have any record of it.

Volvo made some great looking cars in and around the Sixties, not least the P1800. People of a certain age will remember the white one (with licence plate ST1) driven by Simon Templar, played by Roger Moore, in the TV series "The Saint" I believe that car is still around and fully restored. Sadly, although this photo is less than 2 years old the DVLA now have no record of the car you see here.

Out cycling today in Northallerton and came across this. Turns out it belongs to a cabinet maker who has had it for over 8 years ... says nothing else could compete with the payload, which is why he chose it as an everyday workhorse!
