Yet another example of me spending too much time in the 'processing room'. About 2 percent of people have green eyes. They are most common in Northern, Central, and Western Europe with about 16 percent of people with green eyes being of Celtic and Germanic ancestry. The iris contains a pigment called lipochrome and only a little melanin. Green eyes are associated with passion, good and bad. People with this colour of eyes are thought to be deviant, wild, and curious. Green eyes have also been at the centre of many superstitious beliefs worldwide relating to witches, magic, vampires, and evil spirits, the most dangerous of which live in caves! For this week's Sunday Challenge , which has the theme of trees . Although I did go out this week and take a lot of shots with the challenge in mind, this particular one is one I took a while back whilst out cycling and which I hadn't got around to uploading. The field crop had obviously just been harvested and I liked the barren feel not only of the tree, but the surrounding landscape ... a kind of scorched earth scene.

I shot this recently whilst walking through fields on the outskirts of Northallerton. Submitted for this week's Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of 1 or 3 or 5 of something and left us wide open as far as subject and processing was concerned. Cropped widescreen to try and emphasise the solitary nature of the single poppy in what I believe was a field of wheat or barley. View large for best effect.
