Coming To Town ...

28 Dec 2015 33 41 1430
For this week's Sunday Challenge , which was a sort of two for one type deal. The subject had to be anything new but then you also had to make it into Art ! You were also supposed to post it on Sunday, but as I kind of lost track of which day of the week it was I'm a wee bit late and I've also had to dip into the archives. Not too far back though as this was a shot I took with the Christmas challenge in mind. It's actually a Santa statue we bought earlier this month. It stands about 18 inches high and I took this shot of it in front of our Christmas tree so as to get some festive type bokeh. Then followed much processing to get the end result you see here ... hopefully it'll keep the Wicked Witch of the North happy! Probably best viewed on black if you have the time to spare!

Let It Snow ...

I'd had this uploaded to act simply as a Christmas card for my many friends and contacts on ipernity. The intention was to 'post' it in each person's guestbook. However, some of them wouldn't let me post images, so I'm now making it public so I can share it with everyone. If you're one of my contacts and you've not had this appear in your guestbook then consider this your very own! It's actually an old shot I took a few years ago, which I've reworked slightly. We'd had some great early snow so I dug this little Christmas ornament out from the loft and let him go play in the back garden. Two links this time for the same track, that being "Let It Snow" by Michael Bublé, so hopefully at least one of them works for you youtu.be/-10fWHdpmks youtu.be/QDQoWT7W5xg

Merry Christmas Everyone ...

The little bear, which is about 3 inches tall, is one of our Christmas ornaments and made from some sort of resin. The festive bokeh comes courtesy of our tree at the far end of the living room. For this week's Sunday Challenge , which has the theme of Christmas . Also, for Sight and Sound . Sorry, but I couldn't resist the chance to share some Shakin' Stevens with you guys: Merry Christmas Everyone The Best Christmas Of Them All Blue Christmas I'll Be Home This Christmas In terms of uploads to ipernity, this is actually my 2,000th item. So it seems apt that I take this opportunity not only to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, but thank you guys once again for all your visits, comments and faves since I came across from the dark side.

Blue Christmas ...

A similar shot to the one I submitted for the recent Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of Christmas . This one processed to reflect the 'other side' of Christmas. With 1 in 4 people in the UK expected tp experience a mental health problem each year and loneliness on the increase (especially in the over Seventies) it would seem that not everyone will have the type of Christmas they might have wished for. Not so much merry or even white, but rather more lonely and blue. My thoughts then go out to those people for whom this Christmas may not be the happiest. Hopefully, 2015 will see them experience better times.

Snowglobe In Space ...

A 'nearly ran' for the recent Sunday Challenge in which we were asked to all work with the same photograph. The original image was entitled simply Snowman Christmas and was created by UNKWinc over on Deviant Art . A copy of their image can be found in the Notes on the top left-hand corner of my interpretation.

Snowglobe On Ice ...

An unusual week for those involved with The Sunday Challenge : quite possibly the maddest, baddest, craziest, and friendliest group on ipernity. Instead of being given a theme and then having to take a photograph to accompany it we were given an image produced by someone else and told to "do your magic however you see fit" . That said, it wasn't a challenge intended to just see who could work the old sliders best. For those not involved with TSC and to give credit to the person who produced the initial image I've inserted a copy of it in the Notes: top right-hand corner. Entitled simply Snowman Christmas it was created by UNKWinc over on Deviant Art . Initially I thought of using it as the basis for some sort of Christmas card. Then I thought of an orb, but I felt that would perhaps lose too much of the original image, before settling on the idea of trying to create a snowglobe. EDIT: 15/12/2014: I've been asked by a couple of folks how I produced this image so I've cobbled together an article, which I think gives enough information for anyone who isn't practised in working with layers etc to have a go at making their own snowglobe: The Making Of A Snowglobe On Ice …
