There were lots of truly lovely cars at Newby Hall back in 2013, but this 5-window V8 powered Ford was one of the most striking and would definitely bring a smile to my face it were mine!

This honest looking old Austin was actually up for sale and will surely have found a new home by now.

Yet more Austin cars for you. This time a trio of Sevens: two convertibles and a saloon - all from the Thirties.

1936 Standard Flying Twelve - LSK 952

This highly modified Standard Flying 12, which was built in the UK by a guy called Dave Rothwell, is one of my all time favourite British hot rods. The car actually started out as a 4-door saloon, but that was before Dave got his hands on it and transformed it into the stunning two-door coupé you see here. Completely rebuilt to an impeccably high standard (no pun intended), the car now features extensive modifications throughout including: Volvo V70 2.5 litre 200BHP Engine; Toyota Supra 5 Speed Manual Gearbox; Budnik Billet Wheels; and Full Leather Interior With Porsche 911 Seats. I saw the car advertised for sale for a mere £25,000 just a few years ago. Now, normally, I wouldn't use the word mere in the same sentence as that kind of price tag, but believe me the car would have been worth every single penny. The fact that it scored heavily in the Best In Britain competition and has even been featured on the Standard Motor Club's website says it all.
