crc[22] - Pullman "Balmoral"

The remaining evidence of the original, highly decorative, livery on this door of the Pullman car "Balmoral" ... a considerable amount of the original interior is within the carriage, I was pleased to note.
Restoration paused at present, note that "Balmoral" was one of four exported as kits from Detroit, and currently contains parts from "Dunrobin" which fitted perfectly when installed.
see later picture ...

Awaiting further - especially the interior - restoration.

The Nov 1904 date indicates that this replica maker's plate is from the Autocoach trailer, NER 3453.

The heavy-weight bogies of NER 3170. [nine-leaf spring, so taking some weight]
Bottom edge of the matchboarded body is just visible.

Spotted this crane at Bolton Abbey station - where there are fairly extensive rebuilding works in progress.
A little research has indicated that this is LNER 8742, one of a pair of 15ton Cowans & Sheldon breakdown cranes, built in 1945/6. It survived to be one of the last BR Civil Engineering cranes. It was used by E&BAR to help relaying under Holywell Bridge in 2003.
Currently out of service awaiting boiler overhaul and rope inspection.

Running around the train involves disappearing up towards the carriage sheds.

crc[22] - vintage set

The vintage set at Embsay. [rolling stock is by Stately Trains].
Looking towards the loco ...
GNSR 34 : 6wheel 5cmpt lavatory, built 1896
GER 37 : 6wheel 3rd saloon, built 1897 - lined out livery.
GER 14 : District Engineer's Saloon, built 1889 - with ducket.
Loco is age appropriate - 52322 was built at Horwich in December 1895 and entered service the following year as L&YR number 1300 (later LMS 12322 and then BR 52322).
I was told that this weekend marked the end of her visit to Embsay.

crc[22] - cabbie's shelter

|
|
The "cabman's shelter" from Ilkley Station. It is in need of a little TLC, especially on the corner post.
Not immediately obvious, but these shelters are actually on wheels, and with a bit of effort and care can be moved around.

The train now departing for Bolton Abbey ...
The carriage featured here is LSWR 17, built as an Open First in 1885 and later converted to a Royal Saloon. The replica interior styled to match the Queen Victoria saloon in the NRM. External livery is a fetching deep brown with salmon pink upper panels.
In between their normal services, E&BAR ran a number of extras, using vintage rolling stock from "Stately Trains" and the "Autocar" NER 3170, for the benefit of CRC attendees.
