Following my photographs of 4 July 2019 [qv], the third and fourth transformers for IFA2 were moved to the site in late July. The specialist moving equipment, seen here, is of interest also. Although the site shown is in Fareham Borough such pictures are worth recording with both Lee on Solent and Fareham tags. The Daedalus site lies in large part in Gosport Borough which includes Lee on Solent. The intentional inclusion of temporary fencing helps to give the overall impression of the current state of the site where construction continues steadily. TZ70_P1000281R

As work progressed well with IFA2, the Interconnector being built in Fareham on a site on the north side of Daedalus, the first two transformers arrived by barge at the hovercraft slipway on 2 July 2019. The first was moved on 3 July using specialist equipment supplied by ALE and travelled via the extended Daedalus site and then Broom Way. On the evening of 4 July, the second transformer could still be seen at the south end of Daedalus on ground formerly used by the adjacent Hovercraft Museum and now more commonly used for the storage/parking of commercial vehicles. However, I do plan to post occasional pictures as work progresses. This is a view from Gosport Road. A great deal of work is being done in the area to create public space and some of the associated landscaping can be seen between the fences and the construction site. 5300_DSC_0102R
