Maesteg Station - 27 June 2015

I am not by any means in favour of railway closures, quite the opposite in fact but my travels around the country do bring me across some surprisingly basic stations with light services. A survivor of a much more extensive network, Maesteg in South Wales, has a modern single platform with an adequate shelter, properly displayed information and disabled access. 200_2_P1050616

Looking Into an Imagined Past (3) - 27 June 2015

One of the joys of exploring disused railways after finding them, sometimes accidentally, is to stand for a few minutes and simply try to visualise them as they once were, to look into an imagined past. The line which now terminates at Maesteg once ran on to Glyncorrwg. The next station to the north, the direction of this photograph, was Nantyffyllon. 200_2_P1050615

An Unusual Pair (2) - 27 June 2015

On my walk around Maesteg and on the way to the station, this combination of signs was eyecatching and set the scene nicely for later photographs. 200_2_P1050612
