Electric Shock (2) - 8 December 2019

08 Dec 2019 1 1 60
There was a sobering reminder today at Fleet services M3 southbound of the continuing resistance to the use of electric vehicles. Although this is by no means wholesale, I do not think we are yet at the stage where many people want to find themselves half way along a motorway on a potentially long journey in an electric vehicle. There are many other factors upon which we could discourse. There are four Ecotricity, general use, bays at Fleet. None was in use. Just along from those are these twelve Tesla bays which were all officially not in use in spite of being installed some time ago. I might be a bit of a dinosaur but I cannot imagine there being twelve Teslas at Fleet in the near future. Furthermore, and I am sure I shall be corrected if wrong, I find it most unhelpful when manufacturers go down diverse routes. For a technology to be widely accepted and used there needs to be some commonality. We already suffer from the proliferation of types of charger for mobile phones. This should not be repeated with vehicles if the take up is to increase in pace. TZ70_P1010562CE

Two VW Vans (Afternoon Delight) - 27 May 2013

Having arrived on ipernity from a badly damaged Flickr, I have decided to take a subtly different approach to my sets/albums. In this new set, I combine views of VW Beetles and Vans and I could not have got off to a better start than this delightful view at Fleet services M3(N) on a sunny bank holiday afternoon. The leading vehicle, in particular, is absolutely magnificent. Both stopped at the Shell filling station as they left. X20_DSCF1203C

Retail Icons - 27 May 2013

How I love my X20 and how it renders colour! When I saw the ideal afternoon light fall upon this wall at Fleet services M3(N), I saw a picture I wanted both for the colours and its commentary on contemporary retail. From camera; Starbucks, KFC, W H Smith, Burger King, EatIn (Welcome Break restaurant branding) and McDonald's. Yes, these services apparently accommodate both burger giants. X20_DSCF1202C
