I was sad to learn that the quirky and varied fleet of Southbourne based Emsworth & District was to cease operating which it finally did on 31 July 2018. By Sunday 26 August 2018, many vehicles had been disposed of but several were still to be seen at the rather spread out site at Clovelly Road. Interestingly, this Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLF Y461JAE, now devoid of titles, carries legal lettering (marked as a note) for the new entity Portsmouth City Coaches Ltd. which will trade as Emsworth Buses. 200_3_P1070497CE

By Sunday 26 August 2018, many vehicles had been disposed of but several were still to be seen at the rather spread out site at Clovelly Road. Unlike the buses, which tended to retain all or part of previous liveries, the (usually) newer coaches had a very pleasing bespoke scheme seen here on Van Hool Astron T917 YJ05PVX. Emsworth & District is one of my favourite companies. Their newer vehicles look smart and it was a pleasant surprise to find ex-Arriva London Transbus ALX400 bodied DAF DB250 LG52DCZ in a Fareham layby. I chose this unusual view to record the comprehensive dedication to the company owners on the back of the vehicle. 200_2_P1090093

I have developed a bit of a fondness for their many-coloured fleet of, mainly, Dennis Darts. Retaining its original colour scheme, ex-Arriva Plaxton Pointer bodied 857 T527AOB was in the charge of a driver who was kind enough to close the doors and pause before moving at my request.
