Monks. Labrang Monastery, Xiahe, China
Monks in Xiahe, Gansu, China. This is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in China (outside of Tibet). taken during a large pilgrimage festival, with monks debating over several days in this large tent.
It is in a very remote area of wilderness.

True....very true, me too...but most people looking on a map would find it easier to locate as in Xiahe, China...... but it is geopolicically and ethnically Amdo.......

When we were in Labrang, a curfew was imposed. Ok, this was in 2009 around some memorable date, but it really seemed that this was not too extraordinary rule, and such restrains are imposed regularly.
