The dust in my previous image was from vehicles travelling in the same direction as us. When it's coming the other way, be sure it's not a Road Train as they have right of way - and use it! On a narrow unsealed road, that means pulling over and stopping. View large for maximum impact.

It was a real thrill, at our Easter gatherings of old Renaults, when this 1902 De Dion Bouton arrived on the scene. More images in the PiPs. Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to follow.

I have realised that my earlier road train images may not have conveyed their full size. When they're in a side road, or turning from one, that size becomes more apparent. Best viewed large - also see PiP of a double deck cattle truck.

When I saw this old FIAT tractor parked beside the road, it was an irresistible subject. The rain stopper on the vertical exhaust particularly appealed.

The Murrays coach on which I returned from Sydney. I asked the driver about it and was told it is a BCI. Since returning home I have found they are a Perth (Australia) company.

My Mazda 1500 near Lake Eyre (the salt pans in the distance) on the Oodnadatta Track, way back in 1971. It seems that a large 4WD is now the usual vehicle in this area, but this was just a normal car (hub caps removed) and with a 1 year old child in the back seat. Copied from a slide. I travelled on this Scania bus (see also PiPs) on the most northern leg of my New Zealand tour. The driver indicated that its suspension had been updated for limited off-road use. The stray light reflections were an unexpected addition to the image.
