Snapper Island
Out with friends, having a very relaxed sail on Batemans Bay. That's Snapper Island to the right. During our cruise, we later saw some Little Penguins fishing (insert note).
Evening Light
Early evening at Mallacoota Inlet. Best on black (press 'Z').
Explored.
Towards Gabo Island
Late afternoon view across the inlet entrance toward Gabo Island, some 16km distant. Gabo Island has a lighthouse, built in 1853 following the wreck of the Monumental City. The ship was en-route from Melbourne to Sydney, shortly after becoming the first propellor-driven steamship to cross the Pacific Ocean (from the USA to Australia).
Kayaking Class
Later in the day, I saw these kayaks being loaded to a special trailer painted with the name of a high school. I wish there had been classes like this in my schooldays!
Across the Inlet
Looking across the entrance to Mallacoota Inlet.

Mallacoota Sunrise
Sunrises usually are at the wrong end of the day for me. :) Maybe view on black?

Oceanside, Mallacoota
Well, strictly speaking, the ocean is behind the sandbars to the upper left. Taken on the ocean side of the headland at Mallacoota Inlet, on a very pleasant morning.
Grey Day at the Beach
The beach and rock formations at Quarry Point, near Mallacoota. Pity about the weather!
Rock Ripples
On the walkway to the Quarry Point beach, an informative sign advises that these rippled and stratified rocks were laid down under a shallow sea, about 450 million years ago. They have been exposed by erosion and past quarrying.
*Edit* I now have added a note with a close-up shot of the rock strata.
Explored.
