Rock Ripples

Rock Ripples
On the walkway to the Quarry Point beach, an informative sign advises that these rippled and stratified rocks were laid down under a shallow sea, about 450 million years ago. They have been exposed by erosion and past quarrying.

*Edit* I now have added a note with a close-up shot of the rock strata.

Explored.

o0o my goodness ... and from here as I look at them they look
like wood ... a slice of a tree just as much as rocks ... very unusual
and interesting to view close up too ... would make some brilliant
abstract pictures George ;-) oOo

Thanks, Bev. Yes, the texture and movement really was interesting. Time was short, but the possibilities.... ! I've now added a close-up in a note.

Thanks, they do indeed find some quite significant fossils at places on the coast of Victoria, though I'm unsure if any have been found in this area.
